Sober Biohacking?  Unlock your body’s hidden potential and supercharge your recovery journey.

I’ve been navigating the world of biohacking for over 25 years, and it’s been an incredibly personal journey, especially how it relates to the pursuit of recovery. Biohacking, which may sound cutting-edge, has been my method of digging deep into my biological processes to seek self-improvement and greater well-being—I want to live to 105! My journey took root in a need to move beyond the discomfort and chaos that accompanies early sobriety. While others were eating pints of ice cream, smoking packs of cigarettes, having sex with strangers, and driving to Vegas at all hours of the day and night to calm their addictive desires; I was nerding out at the library and self-experimenting.

For those of us in recovery from addiction, biohacking can be a game-changer. By becoming our own “N of 1” experiment, we can take charge of our health and well-being, which is especially important after the toll addiction can take on our bodies. Biohacking lets us explore ways to boost energy, clear our minds, and even reduce cravings. Plus, it’s all about finding what works for us individually, which can be super empowering.

Biohacking isn’t just about gadgets and fancy tech; it’s about understanding our own unique needs and using that knowledge to live better. For example, we can use nutrition to support our brain health or try out red light therapy to help our bodies heal. Even simple practices like my fave, meditation, can make a big difference in how we feel and how we manage stress. By experimenting with different biohacking techniques, we can find what helps us stay on track and support our recovery journey.

The “N of One Society” concept resonates with me. Emerging formally in the mid-to-late 2000s, it’s all about recognizing that each of us is our own unique case study. No two bodies function the same, and discovering what works for me required a lot of personal experimentation and attentive tracking. I was already elbows-deep in experimenting with various supplements, cold immersions, and meditative practices long before this idea had a formal name. These strategies were my way of attaining mental clarity, especially crucial in my post-addiction life, while I was exploring who I wanted to become as a sober woman.

Looking back, pivotal influences changed the game. Catching Suzanne Somers on TV, talking to Oprah about hormone therapy, and connecting with a green juicing holistic health practitioner were turning points as my immune system crashed. These experiences collided, pushing me into a deeper exploration of my body and mind, crucial when standard solutions weren’t cutting it. I’ve been on BioIdentical Hormone Replacement for over 25 years, and I’ll probably stay on them for another five decades because they support my recovery well-being.

In today’s biohacking world, we can hear so-called experts, doctors, and influencers discuss antiaging, longevity treatments, fertility fixes, and regenerative health from scientific evidence and clinical experience. I didn’t have access to this 25 years ago; it was either microfilm or the Merch Manual!  For me, biohacking is not just about living longer—it’s about being healthy, present, and embracing where we are in our recovery journey without judgment. I’m all about encouraging others to explore alternative methods and substances to support their spiritual and emotional balance.

Biohacking is a powerful ally in the sober community, offering ways to nourish brain health and manage addiction positively. But it requires mindfulness so it doesn’t turn into another addiction. It’s about taking things slow: testing one change at a time, tracking results, and understanding how each tweak affects your unique system.

If you’re new to biohacking, remember to start low and go slow. Dive into your research, track your journey, and measure your experiences. This isn’t just a science experiment—it’s a celebration of the human body’s resilience and adaptability, serving as a path toward maintaining long-term recovery and finding balance in life.

This journey is all about discovery and adventure. It reveals the awesome power of our bodies and the incredible spirit that arises through mindful, resilient living. Embrace the ride—let it inform, transform, and guide you to deeper layers of balance and understanding.

Here are three innovative biohacks you can try on your recovery adventure:

  1. Vagus Nerve Stimulation: I love my Pulsetto device, which offers a noninvasive way to stimulate the vagus nerve. For me, it reduces stress, improves my sleep, and I gain a whole lot of clarity in just four minutes a day! Boom!
  1. Personalized Nutrition via DNA Testing: THIS is my thing! In 2025, DNA tests combined with wearable technology will allow for the creation of highly personalized nutrition plans. This approach tailors your diet to your body’s needs, optimizing factors like blood sugar levels and gut health. It’s a powerful way to use food as medicine, customized to your unique genetic makeup. Schedule with me here.

  1. Start using a Peptide Stack for a Cognitive Boost: Combine peptides like Semax, Selank, and Cerebrolysin to create a personalized nootropic stack. Each peptide targets different aspects of brain function, such as memory, focus, and stress resilience. You can potentially enhance cognitive performance and mental clarity by experimenting with the right combinations and dosages.

Want to learn more?  Watch my latest DNA webinar or grab the peptide cheatsheet. Start your sober biohacking experiment today.
