At The Sober Curator, our glass is always half-full; there’s just no booze in it. This week’s collaboration with @Tonix.Mocktails teaches us more about making your own flavored simple syrups at home.
The Staples Class 103: Homemade ingredients – flavored simple syrups
Have you ever wondered how you can make customizable flavors for your at-home mocktail-making experiences? What if I tell you it’s as easy as 1,2,3? On this week’s “Just a Merry Mocktail Monday,” Let’s chat about homemade, customizable syrups for your alcohol-free delight!
Flavored simple syrups are as simple to make as their namesake. (Was that a tongue twister?) And the beauty is you can make a variety of flavors! You are in control! This week I made a rose syrup using organic edible rose petals, organic cane sugar and water (1:1:1).

There are lots of places to get organic, edible rose petals. I ordered this bag from Amazon.
Head on over to your stovetop!
- Dissolve the sugar in the water
- Add the roses
- Bring to a boil
- Cover
- Reduce to simmer for 10 minutes
- Then remove from heat
- Strain out the rose petals
- Bottle
- Label
Sober Curator Pro Tip: You can thrift shop fun glass bottles for your syrup storage, too!
BAM, you’re done! You have a yummy rose syrup in the fridge for the next two weeks! You can swap out the roses for any herb, and the remainder of the dried rose petals make perfect, simple, yet effective garnishes for your creations!
My friend Alysse (CEO and Co-Founder @thesobercurator), admittedly, is not one for a lengthy time in the kitchen. After a brief chat and an email with recipes and ingredients, she made her own Rose Syrup! (I’m so proud!)
Stay tuned for awesomeness that surrounds this story!
:cliffhanger:
So grab your sensible Salvation Army glassware haul, make yourself some flavored simple, pour a little bubbly water and enjoy your NonAlc Journey!
Until Next Week!!
To Your Health!

What do you get when you mix syrup and cute kiddos together?
We went on a hunt for funny “syrup” videos on YouTube and had to chuckle at these two videos below. Aren’t kids the cutest?
