Hollywood’s biggest night wasn’t just about the awards—it was a runway for jaw-dropping (and head-scratching) fashion moments. From Demi Moore’s flawless reign on the red carpet to Timothée Chalamet’s ongoing fashion crimes, this year’s Oscars red carpet had a little bit of everything: elegance, drama, and a few unfortunate missteps. While Miley Cyrus and Selena Gomez brought the glam in dazzling couture, others (ahem, Scarlett Johansson and Zoe Saldana) left us wondering… why?
Who stunned? Who stumbled? And who left us absolutely speechless? We’re breaking down the best, worst, and honorable mentions from the 2025 Academy Awards—because in Hollywood, fashion is just as competitive as the trophies. 🎭🔥 Did your favorite star make our list?
Honorable Mentions:
Colman Domingo, who was nominated for Best Actor, dazzled in a custom Valentino suit featuring a statement piece Boucheron bracelet with a hanging gold tassel. This look sent me. The look is an exciting take on the traditional suit, with the belt giving me life.

Storm Reid of “Euphoria” and “The Last of Us” wore this ruffled dress by Alexandre Vauthier. The dramatic cape, paired with the mini dress, plays with proportions in dramatic flare.

Best Dressed:
Demi Moore, nominated for Best Actress for her role in The Substance, dazzled in a custom Giorgio Armani Privé gown embellished with silver crystals and a unique bow-like structure at the waist. Whoever her stylist is this awards season has won for the season. (Brad Goreski, we’re looking at you!) Moore has constantly topped our best-dressed list.

Miley Cyrus wore a gown by one of my favorite designers, Alexander McQueen. The tulle gloves paired with the gown were a nice touch, adding an unexpected element to the garment, something Scar Jo was hoping for but failed to.

Selena Gomez, an “Emilia Pérez” cast member, wore a custom Ralph Lauren gown and accessorized it with a Bulgari diamond necklace. Her gown was embellished with hand-sewn Rosemont crystals and more than 16,000 drops of glass in an intricate lattice-work pattern.

Susan Downey and her husband, the actor Robert Downey Jr., dazzled on the carpet. Robert wore a sequin tie to match his wife, giving a fun twist to menswear, a trend we saw all over the carpet this season.

Whoopi Goldberg wore a gown by Christian Siriano that looked like dripping metal. The gown was mesmerizing in how it captured the light.

Ariana Grande’s custom Schiaparelli gown, straight from the label’s Spring-Summer 2025 Haute Couture runway, featured delicate tulle hanging dramatically from a structured satin bodice. The French label said its look featured over 190,000 crystal sequins, rhinestones, and cut beads.

Worst Dressed:
Zoe Saldana, who won Best Supporting Actress for “Emilia Pérez,” wore a gown by Yves Saint Laurent. The look was disjointed and styled sloppily. The garment reminded me of three deflated balloons stacked on top of one another, her hair looked lifeless and dead, and the tulle gloves didn’t add anything to the outfit.

Timothée Chalamet, wore a peeps yellow Givenchy suit. He was nominated in the best actor category for “A Complete Unknown.” IF Demi Moore was the winner of this award’s season… Tim was the loser. He consistently made our worst dressed list for his looks paying homage to Bob Dylan. The pants for this suit make my skin crawl. It’s yellow denim that isn’t properly tailored; the pants are too long for his legs and wrinkle in a way that is most unfortunate.

Scarlett Johansson wore a velvet blue Thierry Mugler gown with matching elbow-length gloves, accessorized with De Beers jewelry. This look was extremely reserved for Scar Jo, and the gloves made it feel heavy. Instead of exuding regality, it reminded me of a cheap-looking Bridgerton costume.

Laura Blount, was nominated for her work in makeup and hairstyling for “Wicked.” The gown is…. painfully overdesigned. It looks like a bunch of fabric scraps were attached to a tragic 1980s wedding gown that was dyed green.

Gabriella Sarmiento Wilson, known as H.E.R. wore this utter fashion crime to the red carpet. The gown looks like it rose from the grave of the early 2000s and should’ve remained there.
