I’m excited to share another non-red and non-sparkling NA wine category find. Everyone has different tastes, so I always encourage you to experiment and decide for yourselves. The white zinfandel from Fre is on my go-to list when craving something refreshing and fruit-forward. This alcohol-removed wine is bottled in Napa Valley and contains grapes from California vineyards. I served this chilled, which brought out the flavors of strawberries. It has 70 calories and 13 grams of sugar per serving.
Being labeled alcohol-removed means they created a balanced wine in the traditional process. Using spinning cone technology, they remove the alcohol while preserving the intended flavors and aromas. Their website includes a very informative video to illustrate the process. While I have not yet tried this in any other way but chilled in a glass, Fre includes cocktail recipes on its website, which sound refreshing and creative.
If you’ve tried other Fre offerings and didn’t like them, I encourage you not to give up on the brand. They have a full spectrum of alcohol-removed wines, from sparkling to reds and many in between. My first sampling of Fre (one of their whites) was disappointing, but I’m glad I kept sampling as I did enjoy the White Zin. Cheers! Follow along with them on IG @frewines.

THE HAPPY TRAVELER VINTAGE BARS: Kim Parsley met her first hoppy craft beer upon moving to Seattle 30 years ago. It was delight at first smell and love at first sip. As her palate for alcoholic beverages became more sophisticated, she spent many years experimenting with spirit-forward cocktails and grew fond of gins and whiskeys. This was all until a series of heart palpitations and dizzy spells began to impact her hiking and her hobbies. At that point, Kim sought medical help and was advised to give up alcohol. Those were very dirty words! But Kim has been leading a sober life since April 1, 2023, and still enjoys helping others elevate their cocktail experience with her bespoke travel bar curations.
