7 Years Sober: The Magic of My Sobirthday

Today marks seven years since I took my last drink—seven years of clarity, growth, and transformation. My “Soberthday” feels particularly significant this year, not just because seven is a number that carries weight across cultures and traditions but also because it echoes something profound about our journey as humans.

    The Magic of Seven

Seven has always been considered a mystical number. It appears repeatedly in nature and our bodies in fascinating ways:

    • We have seven chakras aligning our energy centers
    • There are seven days in a week, marking our natural rhythm
    • Our cells regenerate completely every seven years
    • Seven colors make up the rainbow’s spectrum
    • Music is built on seven notes in the diatonic scale
    • Seven major endocrine glands regulate our body’s functions
    • The moon cycles through four seven-day phases

Perhaps it’s no coincidence that this seventh year of sobriety feels like a complete renewal. The person I was when I began this journey has been entirely replaced, cell by cell, thought by thought.

7 Things I Never Imagined I Could Do Before Sobriety

When I was trapped in the cycle of high-functioning alcoholism, there were countless dreams I dismissed as impossible. Now, seven years into this journey of clarity, I’m amazed by what I’ve accomplished:

    1. Writing and Publishing My Memoir: Marinating In Chaos
Alcohol silenced my voice and clouded my memories. In sobriety, I found the courage to revisit my past, process it with clarity, and share my story authentically. Seeing my words in print—knowing they might help someone else feel less alone—is a gift I dreamed of but, deep down, never thought possible.

    You can grab it here.

    2. Running a Marathon
The woman who was told by her junior high School gym teacher that she wasn’t ‘a runner’ crossed a marathon finish line. My body, once not considered athletic, carried me 26.2 miles through sheer determination. Each step was a testament to healing my sense of integrity and showing myself I could do hard things.

    3. Becoming an Impact Angel Investor
My ‘I Am Sober’ app tells me I have saved 77K since quitting drinking (not to mention 5000 hours). Sobriety expanded my vision to creating generational change through conscious capital. I now invest in solutions that matter, directing resources toward women founders reshaping our world.

    4. Feeling More Confident and Strong as I Age
While others fear getting older, I celebrate each year as being the best yet. My body grows stronger, my mind sharper, and my purpose clearer with each passing year—the opposite of what alcohol promised but never delivered.

    5. Feeling Empowered in My Mission
My mission to revolutionize the landscape of female entrepreneurship by providing holistic, wellness-centered support that empowers women founders to build thriving companies while preserving their well-being isn’t just work—it’s my calling. I wake up energized by purpose rather than dulled by a hangover.

    6. Planning to Speak on Stages
The woman who once only sought attention in all the wrong ways after too many cosmos is now preparing to share her message with audiences. Finding my voice—and using it to inspire others—represents a transformation I couldn’t have imagined in my drinking days.

    7. Envisioning a Bold 10-Year Future
Perhaps most miraculous is my ability to see far beyond immediate gratification. My vision of being the global force funding women-led businesses that shatters outdated systems, redefines success, and drives unstoppable triple-bottom-line impact would have seemed like fantasy before. Now, it feels inevitable.

    The Ripple Effect of Sobriety

What strikes me most about these seven accomplishments is their outward impact, not just their personal significance. My sobriety isn’t just about me anymore. By healing myself, I’ve gained the capacity to contribute to healing our collective systems.

By shifting capital into the hands of female founders, I’m part of reshaping power dynamics, fueling economic prosperity, and building a future where wealth, well-being, and opportunity are shared. None of this would be possible if I were still pouring alcohol over my potential.

    Celebrating This Sobirthday

Today, I celebrate not just what I’ve overcome but what I’ve become. Seven years ago, I was always seeking numbness. Today, I seek clarity.  I’m fully alive, creating ripples that extend far beyond myself.

If you’re reading this and struggling with your relationship with alcohol, know that freedom is possible. I support women who are looking to quit or explore their sober curiosity.  If you’re already on this journey, I honor your courage. And if you’ve never faced addiction but support those who have, thank you for being part of the healing.

Here’s to seven years sober—and to all the sevens yet to come.
