Join us as we delve into each unique deck and discover how these little cards can make a big difference in your life.

Sober Curator Pro Tip: Motivational Card Decks are the perfect and affordable gift for that sober someone in your life that is celebrating an anniversary, soberthday, clean and sober date, or any type of milestone. Need a card to go with that? We’ve got you boo! Sobriety Cards (thesobercurator.com)

    Happyish Deck

Studies have shown that the pursuit of happiness can negatively impact your mental health (wtf? . . . and yet, somehow, we suspected as much). Nora McInerny—celebrated author and host of the Terrible, Thanks for Asking podcast—gets it. She’s created this daily oracle/guidance deck for people who are done with the pursuit of unbridled happiness—and are ready to embrace its more stable cousin, a state of “happyish.”

    Gentle Reminders

This daily oracle deck by artist & writer Barry Lee is all about emotional self-care. It’s not meant to tell you what to do, but to help you connect with your own inner knowing—to gently bring you back to your own center every day, and to add a little slice of tranquility & joy to your day. No matter what’s going on, you deserve to be reminded you are worthy of love and tender moments of comfort, beauty, and whimsy.

    Mental Health Affirmation Cards

In one of the most tough times in this life, these cards may bring a sense of feeling understood and not alone. It’s the small steps daily that help build happiness again.

    #ADDTOCART

    Affirmation Deck

Practicing affirmations is the simplest thing you can do to start your day happier and more productive. Affirmations are positive statements you repeat to yourself that challenge negative self-beliefs and work to stop self-sabotaging negative thoughts from impacting your self-esteem. By creating positive statements about yourself, you affirm your worthiness and ability to do the things you want to do.

    Mindfulness Cards

50+ Prompts and Exercises for the Mind and Body. An easy way to cultivate mindful moments—anytime and anywhere: This engaging deck makes it easy to bring awareness, calm, and joy to everyday life. Each card includes an inspiring phrase on the front and a bite-size mindfulness exercise on the back. Users can draw one card to form an intention for the day, pull several for a more complex reading, or display around the home or office as inspiring mantras.

Rest Deck: 50 Practices to Resist Grind Culture

Goodbye, grind mindset; hello, rest, positivity, and healing. It’s easy to lose ourselves in life’s grind—career, side hustles, school, kids—until we’re so burnt-out we’re practically numb. Created by Tricia Hersey, founder of the Nap Ministry, this deck is full of affirmations and practices to rest your mind and body.

    The Work Wellness Deck

A deck of 60 ways to de-stress, recharge, and reconnect on the job. When work gets hectic, figuring out how to manage your stress level can feel like a job in itself. Delegate that task to this deck of 60 cards. Each one features an actionable way to bring more balance to your office life, specifically when it comes to your mental health, physical well-being, and coworker relationships. You’ll find prompts for stretching, breathing exercises, gratitude practices, networking, and more.

    Desk Yoga Card Deck

With 52 easy-to-follow practices, these cards let you enjoy an instant yoga break anytime, anywhere. You sit down at your desk ready to get stuff done. Fast forward a couple of hours and you’re tired, achy, and unfocused (yes, we’ve been there too). Before you down a cup of coffee or a sugary snack, give yourself the real pick-you-up of an instant yoga break—no mat required.

Q: What is a motivational card deck and how do you use one?

A: A motivational card deck is a set of cards, usually 40 to 60, each featuring a prompt, affirmation, mindfulness exercise, or reflection. You can pull one card a day to set an intention, use them in journaling, display them on your desk, or work through the whole deck over time. There’s no wrong way to use them. The point is to build a small, consistent habit of checking in with yourself. For people in recovery especially, that daily pause matters more than most people realize.

Q: Are motivational card decks a good gift for someone in recovery?

A: Honestly, yes. They’re one of my favorite sober milestone gifts because they’re personal without being heavy, practical without being clinical, and affordable enough that you can give them without overthinking it. Whether someone is celebrating a soberthday, hitting a 30-day chip, or marking 10 years, a card deck they’ll actually use every morning is a genuinely thoughtful choice. Pair it with a sobriety greeting card and you’ve got a full moment.

Q: What is the Happyish Deck?

A: The Happyish Deck is a daily oracle and guidance deck created by Nora McInerny, author and host of the Terrible, Thanks for Asking podcast. It’s designed for people who are done chasing relentless happiness and ready to settle into something more honest and sustainable. Think less “good vibes only” and more “let’s be real about where we actually are today.” It’s one of my favorites on this list for exactly that reason. Grab it on Amazon here.

Q: What is the Rest Deck and who created it?

A: The Rest Deck was created by Tricia Hersey, founder of the Nap Ministry, and it’s exactly what it sounds like: a card deck full of affirmations and practices designed to help you resist grind culture and actually recover. Fifty practices focused on rest, healing, and slowing down. For people in recovery who spent years running on adrenaline, chaos, or substances, the idea that rest is productive and necessary hits differently. Find it on Amazon.

Q: What are affirmation cards and do they actually work?

A: Affirmation cards are cards with positive statements designed to challenge negative self-talk and interrupt patterns of self-sabotage. The research on affirmations is real: repeating positive, specific statements about yourself can shift how your brain processes information about your own worth and capability over time. They’re not magic, and they’re not a substitute for actual support. But as a daily habit, especially in recovery when the inner critic can be loud, they’re worth the five seconds it takes to pull one card and read it.

Q: What card decks are best for mental health and emotional wellness?

A: A few on this list are specifically built for emotional awareness rather than just positivity. The Box of Emotions helps you name and explore what you’re actually feeling, which is genuinely useful for anyone in recovery who spent years numbing those signals. The Gentle Reminders deck by Barry Lee focuses on emotional self-care and reconnecting with your inner knowing. And the Mental Health Affirmation Cards are designed specifically for people going through hard stretches, with the message that you are not alone. All three are worth keeping within reach.

Q: What is the Mindfulness Cards deck?

A: It’s a 50-plus card deck with a mindfulness prompt on the front of each card and a bite-size exercise on the back. You can pull one for a daily intention, use several together for a deeper practice, or prop them around your home or office as reminders. The exercises cover breathing, body awareness, gratitude, and presence. If you want to build a mindfulness habit but don’t have 45 minutes for a meditation app, this is a realistic starting point. Find it at Jenni Bick.

Q: Are there card decks specifically for managing stress at work?

A: Two on this list are built exactly for that. The Work Wellness Deck has 60 cards with actionable ways to manage stress, improve focus, and maintain your mental health during the workday, including breathing exercises, gratitude practices, and ways to reconnect with coworkers. The Desk Yoga Card Deck has 52 yoga practices you can do at your desk without a mat. Both are solid options if you’re sober and navigating a high-pressure work environment where self-regulation tools need to be fast and low-maintenance. Work Wellness Deck and Desk Yoga Deck are both at Uncommon Goods.

Q: Where can I find more sober-friendly gift ideas from The Sober Curator?

A: Our #ADDTOCART section is the place to go. We’ve rounded up sobriety greeting cards, the Grateful AF and Spiritual AF decks, The Gratitude Store, recovery merchandise, and more. All of it is curated with sober milestones and alcohol-free living in mind. No bath bombs and generic candles. Actual stuff worth gifting.
