Go Brewing out of Naperville, Illinois, has been steadily building a reputation in the non-alcoholic beer world for delivering flavorful options that don’t feel like an afterthought. They’ve shown a willingness to swing for the fences with big hop profiles and bold styles, often giving NA drinkers something that feels a little closer to the “real deal.” Because of that, every time I crack open a can from Go Brewing, my expectations are usually sitting somewhere in the stratosphere.

This week we are drinking Prophets from Go Brewing. As a hazy IPA, the expectation is a juicy, hop-heavy experience with that cloudy look and fruit-forward aroma. Prophets pours a classic cloudy pale yellow, exactly what you want from the style, and the citrus and hop notes quickly drift up into the scent center. Everything about the look and smell suggests a hazy hop bomb waiting to explode in your sniffy holes.

When Prophets from Go Brewing finally makes its way into the flavor funnel, the fruity side of things takes center stage. It’s light, crisp, and easy to drink, with citrus notes doing most of the talking while the hops politely hang out in the background. The result is refreshing, but it leans a little closer to juice territory than the hop-happy haze I was hoping for. If you’re looking for subtle sips and fruity freshness, this one might fit the bill, but hop heads may find themselves searching for a little more bitter bite.

Untappd gives Prophets from Go Brewing a 3.5 out of 5. I’m coming in lower at a 3.1. It’s not a bad beer by any stretch, but compared to some of the other heavy hitters from Go Brewing—especially that sweet, sensational, sip-worthy double IPA *The Story*—this one just doesn’t quite hit hop head heaven for me. Of course, that’s just my take, so crack one open yourself and see how it treats your own face hole.
