Featuring a #MinnySober native: Bauhaus Brew Labs’ “Nah” Non-Alcoholic Pink Guava Sour and shared insights from the brewery’s owner, Matt Schwandt.

    A Pioneering Non-Alcoholic Brew

In 2019, Bauhaus Brew Labs made history as the first Minnesota brewery since Prohibition to can non-alcoholic beer. Their “Nah” Pink Guava Sour stands out as a refreshing and sophisticated alternative to traditional alcoholic beverages, perfect for those seeking a mindful drinking experience.

This non-alcoholic wheat ale captivates the palate with its delightful tartness derived from a vibrant medley of tropical fruits. The lactic acidity is expertly balanced by a subtle salinity and rich fruit character, creating a harmonious flavor profile that is both invigorating and satisfying. The inclusion of cracked coriander during the whirlpool process imparts a unique citrus note that beautifully complements the ale’s inherent fruity sweetness, adding layers of complexity to each sip.

    Tasting Notes

The “Nah” Pink Guava Sour is a testament to the artistry of non-alcoholic brewing. Its moderate lactic sourness, slight salinity, and crisp, aromatic finish make it a versatile beverage that can be enjoyed on a sunny afternoon or as a sophisticated accompaniment to a meal. This fruity wheat ale promises to elevate your drinking experience, offering a refreshing and nuanced alternative that rivals its alcoholic counterparts.

Curated Sips: “Nah” Pink Guava Sour is my favorite NA beer by a long hop!

Q&A with Matt Schwandt, Owner of Bauhaus Brew Labs

To gain deeper insights into the world of non-alcoholic brewing and recovery, we sat down with Matt Schwandt, owner of Bauhaus Brew Labs.

On Sobriety in the Twin Cities:

Matt shares, “Today, I feel completely at ease socializing without alcohol—in fact, I very much prefer it. The Twin Cities has been at the forefront of normalizing NA beverages, and there are plenty of great NA options at bars, restaurants, and yes, even craft breweries today.”

Advice for Those New to Recovery:

“Recovery is simple but never easy. It requires a substantial amount of self-discipline and determination. I think one of the best things someone new to recovery can do is find like-minded people who have chosen a sober lifestyle to support them in their journey,” Matt advises.

Impact of Recovery on Family Life:

Matt notes, “Virtually every relationship in my life improved after I chose to stop drinking. I was able to be truly present with the people I care about, including my kids, parents, friends, and work colleagues.”

Bauhaus Brew Labs: Supporting the Recovery Community

Bauhaus Brew Labs offers a range of NA beverages in its taproom, including its “Nah” line of non-alcoholic beers. It also periodically holds events for the recovery community and raises awareness of mental health issues.

Matt is particularly proud of how Bauhaus serves its diverse community through various beverages and taproom events. “From the outset, Bauhaus has aimed at becoming a community hub, and I believe we have achieved that over the past ten years of our operations,” he shares.

Bauhaus Brew Labs’ “Nah” Pink Guava Sour is more than just a non-alcoholic beer; it’s a testament to the evolving landscape of mindful drinking. As Matt Schwandt’s journey demonstrates, embracing sobriety can lead to profound personal growth and positive community impact.

For those exploring the world of zero-proof beverages or participating in mindful drinking initiatives like Dry July, the “Nah” Pink Guava Sour offers a sophisticated and flavorful option that doesn’t compromise on taste or experience.

Thanks for this write up for the Twin Cities. As a new transplant and someone sober, it is amazing that since MN has such a beer/brewery culture that the breweries are stepping up to make their spaces inclusive. Personally, I don’t know how many times I’ve passed on going to a brewery or out because of the lack of options, not wanted to be triggered. But having places like Bauhaus really makes it comfortable to be able to go out, have fun, and socialize.

Thank you so much for your comment, Bryan!
It’s wonderful to hear that as a new transplant and someone who is sober, you find the inclusivity of breweries like Bauhaus Brew Labs so welcoming. Be sure to check the brand new Twin Cities Events Calendar: https://thesobercurator.com/events/, for more stellar sober-supportive things to do.
        Cheers!
