On a balmy Wednesday night in NYC, Free Spirits made a splashy debut on the East Coast with a launch party at Ella Funt, the East Village’s glitter-drenched haven for nightlife royalty. The event marked the beginning of a four-month pop-up celebrating no-and-low ABV cocktails—and if opening night is any indication, the zero-proof scene has officially arrived.
The Vibe: A Toast Without the Hangover
Hosted by Free Spirits founder Milan Martin, the evening delivered a stylish blend of celebration and education. Guests sipped inventive mocktails, mingled with nightlife icons like Amanda Lepore and Julia Fox, and got a first-hand look at how Free Spirits is reframing the drinking experience—flavor-first and alcohol-optional.
The menu was a masterclass in zero-proof mixology. Signature cocktails featured the full lineup: The Spirit of Bourbon, Gin, Tequila, and Milano. The “Smoked Cherry Old Fashioned” offered depth and drama, while the watermelon fruit-forward margarita had more than a few guests doing double takes. The Spirit of Bourbon sparked conversation: some praised its smoky character, especially when mixed with cola or citrus, while others found it best suited for cocktails, rather than sipping it neat.
The event also highlighted a significant cultural shift: NYC is ready for more sober-positive nightlife. Bartenders, beverage directors, and industry insiders left buzzing (in a good way) about the future of inclusive, intentional drinking experiences.

Why It Mattered
This wasn’t just a product launch—it was a statement. Free Spirits proved that going booze-free doesn’t mean giving up bold flavors, beautiful presentation, or the buzz of a great night out. Whether you’re sober, sober-curious, or just slowing down, this pop-up offers something elevated, exciting, and entirely hangover-free.
But don’t take my word for it, Free Spirits has a four-month residency at Ella Funt for the next four months! Check it out from now until September!
