I’ll never forget the first time I met Sarah Morgando. We were two nurses, walking parallel paths. Both starting our coaching practices around the same time. Board-certified. Seasoned. And no strangers to holding space for the hard, messy, deeply human stuff. But what struck me immediately about Sarah wasn’t just her clinical knowledge or calm presence — it was the way she carried her story. Gracefully. Bravely. And with a kind of purpose that makes you sit up a little straighter and listen a little harder.
Sarah’s sister, Jenny, died after a long battle with addiction — one complicated by the silent risks that often follow gastric bypass surgery. In her grief, Sarah could’ve closed up shop. She could’ve folded into the pain. Instead, she built something: Sisterhood Rising — a community rooted in connection, healing and the radical act of holding space for one another.
That’s why I had to record these two episodes with her.
In Episodes 10 and 11 of You’ve Been Selected, Sarah and I dive into what she calls the sister wound — those deep-rooted societal patterns of judgment, comparison and competition that often divide women, especially in recovery spaces. This wound isn’t just metaphorical — it shows up when we hesitate to be vulnerable, when we feel shame about our bodies, our parenting, our past. It isolates us at a time when we need connection the most.
Sarah’s story — and Jenny’s — hit me in a place I didn’t know still needed healing. Because I know what it’s like to feel alone in sobriety. I know how life-saving it can be when another woman looks at you and says, “I get it.” That kind of witnessing? It saved my life. Community saved my life. Women saved my life.
Recording these episodes was more than a podcast task — it was a sacred honoring of all the women who have held me, seen me and stood beside me in the messy, beautiful work of recovery.
Sarah turned her grief into a lighthouse for others. Sisterhood Rising isn’t just a group — it’s a movement. A reminder that we heal in connection. That being seen can be just as powerful as speaking. That rising isn’t something we do alone.
Whether you’re deep in your own recovery journey or just learning how to show up for yourself, I hope you’ll listen to these conversations. Because when women come together without shame or pretense, healing doesn’t just happen — it multiplies.
Tune into Episodes 10 and 11 of You’ve Been Selected to hear Sarah’s story, Jenny’s legacy and the power of sisterhood done differently.
