Remember where you were on August 12, 2025, at 12:12 a.m.?
It’s TS12 time. LET’S GO.
Honestly, the only thing that scares me more than this is knowing TS13 is next. But as my therapist reminds me when I’m spiraling into the future: say one true thing out loud to ground yourself.
I am sitting at my desk.
It’s a beautiful morning.
My yogurt is cherry almond flavored.
And I am PSYCHED OUT OF MY MIND.
The Life of a Showgirl.
I mean. The Life of a Showgirl??
This is not a soft launch.
This is not a wink and a nod.
This is a strut-in-heels-down-the-street, sequins-in-the-sunlight, glitter-in-your-hair kind of announcement.
It’s already giving fuck you energy.
It’s giving RADICAL PERMISSION energy.
And that’s where my recovery brain lights up, because radical permission is the heartbeat of long-haul sobriety.
At first, permission in recovery feels small, tender, necessary.
Permission to leave the party early.
Permission to skip the wedding toast.
Permission to nap on a Monday afternoon because your body says so.
But over time, those tiny permissions start adding up and something shifts.
The scale tips from “Can I really?” to “Of course I will.”
You start saying yes to things you didn’t even know you were allowed to want.
You start showing up as the full, glittery, loud, complicated, honest version of yourself.
And you stop dimming the lights just because someone else prefers the dark.
That, to me, is Showgirl Recovery.
It’s not about performing wellness so everyone claps for you.
It’s about refusing to live a smaller life for the comfort of the crowd.
It’s the confidence to step into the spotlight, knowing you don’t have to have every step of the dance perfected to belong there.
Showgirl recovery says:
You’re allowed to take up the whole stage.
You’re allowed to change the choreography mid-song.
You’re allowed to keep the feathers, the sequins, the messy laugh that bursts out at the wrong time.
So here’s to TS12.
Here’s to The Life of a Showgirl.
And here’s to the radical permission it takes to be both in recovery and fully alive.
