The Daily Llama’s Weekly Word of the Day and Meditations

The Daily Llama brings you short, one-word meditations and a corresponding quote for your complete wool-being (#seewhatwedidthere?) for Monday, June 5th – Friday, June 9th, 2023.

MONDAY, JUNE 5TH

THE DAILY LLAMA WORD OF THE DAY: BOUNTIFUL

QUOTE OF THE DAY:

MEDITATE ON THIS:

Each of us has something to contribute, whether it is a skill, talent, or a story to share. Some people are destined for greatness, and it is admirable when people achieve great things. But most of us will not be remembered or admired by the world, only by those around us whose lives we have impacted.

We cannot control how people choose to remember us. We can only control how we decide to treat them.

TUESDAY, JUNE 6TH

THE DAILY LLAMA WORD OF THE DAILY: ESSENTIAL

QUOTE OF THE DAY:

MEDITATE ON THIS:

We live in a society so saturated with images that we can quickly begin to believe what we see is how it is. Additionally, our biases influence our perceptions, which can make finding the truth a bit more complicated.

For today, take a break from the mindless scrolling and incessant viewing of other people’s lives. Stop comparing your life to what you see on social media platforms. Go outside for a walk, take deep breaths, and look around at the world you inhabit. Ask yourself, “What in my life is essential?”

As hard as it might be to locate what is essential, it can be harder to eliminate what is not.

WEDNESDAY, JUNE 7TH

THE DAILY LLAMA WORD OF THE DAY: HEALING

QUOTE OF THE DAY:

MEDITATE ON THIS:

The human body has the innate ability to heal itself. The liver can regenerate, and the lungs can repair. Our skin can knit itself back together after a cut. Science tells us that every cell in our body gets replaced every 7-10 years. (See Science How Stuff Works for more information.)

Of course, this does not mean we can go on doing damage. We have to assist the body in its healing process. We need to drink water, get sleep, eat the green stuff, do the therapy, complete the workouts, follow through on hygiene, and go to the doctor. This does not guarantee that everything will improve immediately; change takes time.

But we can (and will) change.

THURSDAY, JUNE 8TH

THE DAILY LLAMA WORD OF THE DAY: REASSURING

QUOTE OF THE DAY:

MEDITATE ON THIS:

The difference between a fantasy and a dream is that fantasies are not probable in reality, while dreams can be realized or achieved. It can be hard to let go of our fantasies about life. But it is necessary to do so to be an emotional grown-up.

It is a fantasy to want a hefty paycheck but not want to put in the hard work and training needed for a well-paying career. It is a fantasy to want long-lasting love but not like to learn how to be a good listener and good communicator. It is a fantasy to want to continue drinking but experience all the benefits of sobriety.

What fantasies are standing in the way of you becoming an emotional grown-up?

FRIDAY, JUNE 9TH

THE DAILY LLAMA WORD OF THE DAY: PHENOMENAL

QUOTE OF THE DAY:

MEDITATE ON THIS:

You are phenomenal. You have made it this far. You have survived 100% of your bad days, as someone wise once said. Keep going. Stay strong. If you don’t feel strong, ask for help from someone who has survived the type of storm you find yourself in. You have everything you need today to make it through today.

You are phenomenal.
