Spring,
springin,
springan
to leap, to jump, to burst forth,
Bursting forth light white pink flowers from tree’s branches,
The first greeting as nature wakes from winter’s slumber.
Flower,
flur,
floer,
flowe, nestled next to nascent green leaves,
Small pink red flowers hang like raspberries, ornaments
for trees that’ve endured
bare branches against cold wind chill.
“See me thrive in April.” The trees whisper,
“We’ve survived winter.”
Blossoming time, height of life, glory and prosperity, the cherry blossoms
fall to the ground, brief twinkling moment of efflorescence now past.
Daffodil,
asphodel,
narcissus
Rain floods from the sky, dousing the Earth,
billowing in the wind the daffodils,
endure the steady deluge, after the storm,
water drips off the yellow petals drip like a used
washcloth, water droplets throughout the creases
and crevices of the daffodil’s dress.
Here they are,
sprung up leaping bursting for Spring,
the asphodel meadow being the resting
place for ordinary souls in the underworld. Plant of the dead sprouted
among the living.
Resurrection,
againrising
Resurgere
In Spring see the flowers, the buds, the cherry blossoms, daffodils,
Wildflowers, dandelions, tulips, see the world, see nature rise up
bloom and burst forth. One moment, all nascent bulbs on the cusp of life,
then all of a sudden Nature and all her glory opens up:
What was once dead now is risen.
