Molly’s Dry Bar & Bottle Shop will be hosting their very first pop-up in Seattle on Saturday, July 24th in the form of an alcohol-free cocktail party! The party will feature an open bar of zero-proof craft cocktails curated by Molly herself. Your ticket includes tastings from a buffet of light vegan appetizers crafted by local chef David Gurewitz of La Dive fame.

Sponsors for the event currently include Monday, Free Spirits, and Broadcast Coffee, with more to come. Each guest will receive a free raffle ticket for a chance to win a bottle from each of our spirit sponsors at the end of the night. The party will run from 5 pm-7 pm on July 24th at Broadcast Coffee in the North Seattle Roosevelt neighborhood. Entry is by pre-paid ticket only (no ticket sales at the door) and tickets are available on Eventbrite.

Sober Curator Pro Tip: Our Founder, Alysse Bryson @alysseinthecity, will be in attendance at this event and handing out some of our cool Sober Curator and Sober pop swag!

Get to Know the Makers Behind Molly’s Dry Bar & Bottle Shop

Molly’s Dry Bar & Bottle Shop is the vision of Molly Flynn and Barry Faught. Barry is the founder and owner of Broadcast Coffee Roasters here in Seattle, and Molly is his long-time employee. Molly has been sober for over five years and enjoys the wonderful burgeoning world of non-alcoholic cocktails and beverages. Barry isn’t sober and he does enjoy the flavor of certain spirits. However, that doesn’t mean he always wants the alcohol to come along for the ride. Together, Barry and Molly have joined forces to create a safe and inclusive space for anyone who isn’t drinking tonight.

Both Molly and Barry are members of the LGBTQIA+ community. So, the dream of opening an alcohol-free bar in Seattle’s “gayborhood” really hits home.

“LGB adults are nearly twice as likely as heterosexual adults to experience a substance use disorder. Transgender individuals are almost four times as likely as cisgender individuals to experience a substance use disorder.”

NAMI (NATIONAL ALLIANCE ON MENTAL ILLNESS)

Capitol Hill has long been a hub for LGBTQIA+ folx to be openly expressive about their sexual orientation, gender identity and gender expression, and more. Not coincidentally, it is also one of the densest neighborhoods for bars per capita. Bars have historically been one of the few safe spaces for queer people to congregate, and consequently, not many alternatives to bars have emerged for socializing, even while queerness is increasingly societally excepted.

Enter Molly’s Dry Bar & Bottle Shop.

Molly’s Dry Bar strives to be Seattle’s first alcohol-free craft cocktail bar, serving up fine non-alcoholic cocktails, beer, and wine. There will also be a bottle shop where guests can pick up a bottle (or two, or three!) of their favorite zero-proof spirits and other “n/a” products to take home. Molly’s Dry Bar & Bottle Shop will start with a series of pop-ups around the Seattle area before establishing a brick-and-mortar bar in the heart of Capitol Hill.
