Sober Dating? There’s An App For That! Introducing Club Pillar

Finding love and meaningful connections can be a challenge, especially for those of us who have chosen a path of sobriety. Enter Club Pillar, the world’s first sober-forward, members-only dating app designed specifically for sober singles looking to mingle in a safe and supportive environment. Club Pillar is your go-to platform if you’re ready to discover a match that shares your commitment to a sober lifestyle.

Club Pillar is not just another dating app; it’s a members-only community where authenticity, privacy, and safety are at the forefront. As the first app of its kind, Club Pillar provides an unparalleled experience both online and through exclusive events in major metropolitan cities. Whether you’re sober, curious, California sober, or have embraced complete abstinence, there’s a place for you at Club Pillar. If you’ve got something interesting to bring to the party, consider yourself invited!

Their goal is to provide a much-needed platform for those who embrace or wish to explore a sober-friendly lifestyle. They aim to foster an intimate community of high-achieving individuals who seek to connect without drinking. Alcohol has been ingrained into the fabric of dating culture. Club Pillar is changing that.

Sober Swiping – My Experiences

You spend some time sober swiping, and bam! You’ve got a match. They seem cute, they’re gainfully employed, and their opener is decent. Fingers crossed, they aren’t holding a picture of the latest fish they caught. (Or is this just a dating in the Pacific NW hazard?) After some back and forth, you receive the inevitable DM: “Let’s get a drink this week.” This is fine because even though I am zero-proof, I do still consume liquids.

Except, we all know how this plays out. And it’s always clear that they did NOT READ my dating profile, where I very clearly stated that I do not consume alcohol. I’m cute, though, so I’m sure my photos are just too distracting for the suiter to actually care what my preferences are in the midst of their swiping frenzy. Side note – doesn’t swiping just feel so…disposable?

Here’s what happens: If you say you don’t drink, they’ll wonder why. If you say you’re sober, they’ll assume you’re no fun. If you say you’re a recovering alcoholic, they’ll run for the hills or start telling you stories of their crazy, drunken uncle. And no matter your response, they’ll follow up with the same question: “Why don’t you drink?” My other favorite question is, “Are you really never going to drink again?” Sigh. I recently had a fella tell me his last girlfriend stopped drinking for caloric reasons, and it really affected their intimacy. Sounds like a YOU problem, dude. Want to hear about another personal dating failure? Exploring Online Dating At 48: The Dilemmas Of A Sober Single Woman Navigating Digital Love | Alysse Bryson

I’ve experienced these scenarios more times than I’d like to admit, and I have worked out clever ways around the issue, like meeting in the afternoon for lunch, a walk (in public), or an iced coffee. So, to find out there is an app like Club Pillar that is attempting to solve this decades-old online dating problem, my sober trucker hat is off to you! I’m on the list and waiting for the Club Pillar Seattle Metro area to open up. In the meantime, below is some info I’ve gleaned from their site, along with some curated interviews I’ve found online.

Application Process and Membership Tiers

Joining Club Pillar is as simple as downloading the app and submitting an application. But be prepared for a bit of a wait; applications are placed in a queue and reviewed continually by their dedicated application committee. You could move from the waitlist to acceptance at any time. Once you’re in, you can choose between a monthly or yearly auto-renewing membership. I’ve applied to participate; however, Club Pillar Seattle is not open yet. If you’re already on the app – I want to hear from you! Slide into my DMs and let me know how it’s going. (Sober) Curious minds want to know!

Club Pillar offers two membership tiers to suit your needs:

  • Basic: Enjoy five swipes a day.
  • Diamond: Get ten swipes a day, 3 direct requests, and access to all of our exclusive events.

Core Values

At Club Pillar, they take their community values very seriously. Authenticity, privacy, and safety are core to your experience with Club Pillar. Any member who acts inconsistently with these values or other community guidelines may have their account terminated. Rest assured, your personal information is secure and never shared.

Payment and Subscription

Your initial payment will be charged via your iTunes Account at the time of purchase. Auto-renewals are charged within 24 hours prior to the end of the subscription period. If you wish to turn off auto-renewal, you can do so at any time through your iTunes Account settings. Any subscription cancellation will be effective at the end of the current period. For more information, please refer to our Terms of Use and Privacy Policy.

Exclusive Events

In addition to creating a sober-friendly alternative to traditional dating platforms, Club Pillar is offering members access to exclusive events in their cities. At Club Pillar, sober socializing doesn’t have to be less than or boring. Substance-free dinners, parties, and retreats can be as sophisticated, decadent, and genuinely fun as any others.

If you’re ready to find love and make meaningful connections without the influence of alcohol, download Club Pillar today and submit your application. Your sober soulmate could be just a swipe away!
