We are going back to when it wasn’t so cold, only a couple of months back, and opening up WellBeing Brewing’s wonderful collaboration beer: their Pumpkin Ale. This brew was done along with O’Fallon’s Brewery. They hit the nail on the head with this one.
How Does It Pour?
The pour of this Pumpkin Ale matches its name as hints or orange fill your glass. There’s a light creamy color head, and WellBeing Brewing hits it out of the park with their pumpkin spices as they burst out of the glass and tickle your nose and your fancy.
How Does It Taste?
And like a critical hit in Dungeons and Dragons, this beer hits just right, bringing a perfectly balanced fall ale to your mouth, with a light mouth feel and a perfect overdose of pumpkin pie spices massaging the back of your tongue. WellBeing Brewing is quickly becoming the master of balance and flavor, and I am becoming a big fan!

Bravus Brewing
Bravus Brewing is no stranger to The Sober Curator, and so it should be no surprise to see them with one of my reminiscent fall line-up beers. Many NA craft breweries did an Oktoberfest this year. While Athletic Brewing might take the cake for the best one (their third annual), I am cracking open a Bravus Brewing Oktoberfest to compare, contrast, and taste.
This beer pours a little lighter than I have come to expect from an Oktoberfest, but what Bravus Brewing is going to want to accomplish here is that classic Marzen-style ale with notes of caramelly malts and a hint of German extravaganza.
How Does It Pour?
Right off the top, the aromas are a bit malty and have a specific smell that all of Bravus Brewing’s beers have, except for their stouts. It’s something based in wort, but I can’t quite put my finger on it.
How Does It Taste?
While the flavor of the mysterious worty smell comes through, it is quickly followed and erased by the caramelly malts I was waiting for. Bravus Brewing does many things well, but I don’t know if this is one of them.
Untappd gives this beer a 2.3 out of 5, and I think I feel the same. I like Bravus Brewing, and their stout recipes are on point (wait until next week!), but this one did not hit as hard as I would have liked a limited-edition seasonal ale to do.
