Go Brewing out of Naperville, Illinois, is quickly proving that they aren’t afraid to take risks in the nonalcoholic space. Their lineup has covered IPAs, lagers and even a few curveball creations, but one constant with Go Brewing is their willingness to play with flavor in ways that keep you curious and thirsty. It feels fitting that a brewery with such a playful name keeps trying to land punches in the crowded NA ring. 

This week we are drinking Jab Jab Grapefruit IPA from Go Brewing. With “grapefruit” in the title, expectations lean heavily toward a zesty citrus blast balanced by a proper hop backbone. The pour comes out thick and golden caramel, topped with an aroma that greets your sniffy holes with grapefruit first, followed by a flicker of hops peeking through the fruit frenzy. The color may be a touch darker than you’d expect for a typical IPA, but it sets the stage for something bold. 

On first sip, Jab Jab lands a left-right combo across the flavor funnel. The grapefruit comes swinging early, owning the center of attention, while the hops bob and weave around the edges before slipping into the back of your throat. The full body gives it weight, but the finish lightens quickly, making it a sneaky sipper rather than a heavyweight slugger. It even flickers a nostalgic note of Magic Hat #9 — though fruit-forward fans may cheer louder than hop heads. 

Untappd gives Jab Jab from Go Brewing a 3.6 out of 5. I’m putting it a bit higher at 4, mostly because Go Brewing makes grapefruit feel intentional rather than gimmicky. Still, grapefruit is a polarizing punch, and whether this one lands or glances depends on your palate. As always, step into the ring yourself before you call the fight.
