February Is The Month For Love And There Is No Better Time To Practice Good Selfcare With The Daily Llama, Bringing You The Word Of the Day For February 8-12, 2021

The Daily Llama brings you short, one-word meditations and a corresponding quote for your complete wool-being (#seewhatwedidthere?) for Monday, February 8th through Friday, February 12th, 2021. Love is in the air and it’s a perfect time to love yourself and practice good selfcare with daily meditations. Even a few minutes can make a difference!

MONDAY, FEBRUARY 8th

THE DAILY LLAMA WORD OF THE DAY:
BLOSSOM

QUOTE OF THE DAY:

MEDITATE ON THIS:

Many may try to resist change with the belief that change is painful. It is simple emotional math. Change means loss, and loss means pain and sadness. Thus, we fear and resist change.

It is our ego’s best trick – to convince us that we can stop things from changing. We can’t. Everything changes. It is the resistance to change that is painful.

All spiritual and emotional growth involves change. If we want healing in our lives, we have to stop holding on so tightly to the mindsets and behaviors that prevent us from growing.

TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 9th

THE DAILY LLAMA WORD OF THE DAY:
CARE

QUOTE OF THE DAY:

MEDITATE ON THIS:

To care for something means to give it what it needs to grow and to thrive. Caring for something also means we refrain from causing intentional harm to it.

In recovery, we first learn to care for ourselves by stopping all behaviors which bring us harm. Then comes the really hard part. We learn how to care for ourselves by figuring out what we need to grow and thrive.

It is simple but not easy because we have to break through the old beliefs that we don’t deserve good things, or kindness, or joy. We have to correct old thinking that says other people are much more important than we are. It is good practice to eliminate the old belief that we don’t deserve love.

We have to defeat our biggest enemy – ourselves. And we don’t defeat this enemy through fighting or arguing or getting revenge. We can only defeat this enemy by loving this enemy.

Caring for all of our needs is fundamental in loving ourselves. And this is how we learn to stop being our own worst enemy.

WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 10th

THE DAILY LLAMA WORD OF THE DAY:
SELF-CONFIDENCE

QUOTE OF THE DAY:

MEDITATE ON THIS:

Self-confidence has very little to do with beauty or wealth or power.  You can have beauty, wealth, or power, but having those things does not guarantee you have confidence. Similarly, one can have confidence without being beautiful, wealthy, or powerful.

And yet we seem to know that having self-confidence is an important ingredient for success. People who have it just seem to live better. Confidence is attractive when it is real confidence and not false bravado.

Building self-confidence is always an inside job. There aren’t any shortcuts. You can’t buy it or fake it. People who have real self-confidence tend to have the following things in common:

  • Made peace with their pasts, worked on healing their wounds, and have learned how to accept themselves
  • Don’t judge or criticize others for sport
  • Practice forgiveness
  • Show compassion and work to build others up
  • Take responsibility and don’t make excuses or blame others for their mistakes
  • Share the credit for the good things that happen
  • Spend time doing things they love

Sober Curator Pro Tip: Self-confidence is not built overnight. It takes time. But how much time it takes is up to you.

THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 11th

THE DAILY LLAMA WORD OF THE DAY:
ENJOYMENT

QUOTE OF THE DAY:

MEDITATE ON THIS:

As we learn how to stop being our own worst enemy, we learn how to befriend ourselves. First, we stop doing what hurts us. Then we work on accepting and forgiving ourselves for hurting ourselves all of these years.

Next, we take time to get to know ourselves again. We learn what we like and what we don’t like. Set some boundaries. We enforce those boundaries. Perhaps we allow some walls to come down.

Finally, what started as merely acceptance begins to turn into love. We go from tolerating the way we are to actually loving who we are.

And when we love ourselves fully, we can always say that we’re in love.

FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 12th

THE DAILY LLAMA WORD OF THE DAY:
LOVE

QUOTE OF THE DAY:

MEDITATE ON THIS:

There is a tremendous amount of focus in popular culture on romantic love as the highest form of love that our human life has to offer. This idea is so prolific that single people may feel inadequate if not partnered up, and married people may feel doubtful about their love if their spouses fail to meet daily the high expectations required of soulmates.

We make a mistake to believe that love is something out there to be found rather than something within to be released. We make a mistake if we try to make ourselves lovable rather than focus on how to be more loving.

Love is never something that can be possessed or owned in any way. Love makes a terrible noun. The more you hold onto it, the less of it you have. Love is an action word. The more you do it, the more there is.

Sober Curator Pro Tip: Journaling is a great way to show yourself some self-love. To inspire you to get started, if this isn’t already part of your daily practice, we’ve curated these Llama themed journals just for you!
