On Friday, May 9, 2025, the soul of Seattle will take the stage.

Dreaming in Analog isn’t just a concert—it’s a celebration of legacy, music, and the man who helped define the voice of a generation: Charles R. Cross.
If you’ve spent any time immersed in Seattle’s music scene—or simply devoured the pages of Heavier Than Heaven or Room Full of Mirrors—you know the name Charles R. Cross. A towering figure in music journalism, Charley was more than just a writer. He was a connector, a truth-teller, a community-builder. He told the stories others couldn’t—or wouldn’t—with humanity, heart, and an unmatched love for the artists who shaped our world.
At The Sober Curator, we had the honor of knowing Charley not only as a writer but as a supporter of our mission to shine light on the beauty and strength of recovery. He believed in the work we do. He made us feel seen. And that’s something we’ll carry with us always.
So when our dear friend Nicole Jon Sievers, Founder of Stand for Courage, asked if we’d help bring this tribute concert to life, we jumped in with both feet. Nicole’s devotion to Charley is fierce and true—and like all great visionaries, she’s pulled together an unforgettable night that blends Seattle’s rich music history with its ever-evolving future.
🎸 THE ULTIMATE MIXTAPE, LIVE ON STAGE
The Dreaming in Analog lineup is the stuff of Seattle music dreams:
- Nancy Wilson (Heart) – Guitar goddess, Grammy winner, rock legend.
- Sir Mix-A-Lot – The voice that put Seattle hip-hop on the map.
- Chris Ballew (The Presidents of the United States of America) – Alt-rock royalty with a smile and a peach.
- Molly Sides (Thunderpussy) – A firestarter of ferocity and soul.
- Eva Walker (The Black Tones) – Indie brilliance and a hometown hero.
- Plus Pete Droge, Elaine Summers, Jeff Fielder, Caspian Coberly, Mary Lambert, and many more.
- Expect a few surprise guests, too—some serious, some not-so-serious.
This isn’t just a lineup. It’s a movement. A mixtape curated by the spirit of Charley and the soul of Seattle.
🎟️ A NO-ASK FUNDRAISER WITH PURPOSE
All net proceeds from Dreaming in Analog will benefit the Charles R. Cross Music Writer’s Grant—created to uplift the next generation of music journalists and ensure that untold stories continue to be told. In true Charley fashion, there are no silent auctions, no donation pitches, no fundraising fatigue. Just music. Just love. Just legacy.
This project has been a labor of love, from the incredible concert poster illustrated by the brilliant Mandy Newham-Cobb, to the launch of the official website—a site we at The Sober Curator were honored to build. As lovers of 90s pop culture, Seattle history, and anything with a good story, it felt like a perfect match for our aesthetic and our mission.
May 9th will be more than a concert. It will be a gathering of hearts—rebels, legends, and rising stars—joined in rhythm and remembrance. A reminder that music heals. Community uplifts. And stories live on, long after the final note.
Join us as we dream in analog and honor the man who helped us all hear a little more clearly.
