Non-Alcoholic Ale Reviews | The Sober Curator
Non-alcoholic ales are one of the fastest-growing categories in alcohol-free craft beer. From hop-forward IPAs to smooth blonde ales and rich dark ales, breweries are now producing alcohol-free versions of classic ale styles that deliver the flavor and aroma craft beer fans expect.
At The Sober Curator, Senior Contributor Justin Lamb reviews non-alcoholic ales from breweries across the United States and around the world. Through his ongoing tasting series, Justin explores how well each NA ale captures the balance of hops, malt, and aroma that defines traditional ale brewing.
This page collects Justin’s latest non-alcoholic ale reviews, helping sober drinkers, craft beer enthusiasts, and the sober-curious discover alcohol-free beers that offer real craft flavor without the alcohol.
What Is a Non-Alcoholic Ale?
A non-alcoholic ale is a beer brewed to contain less than 0.5% alcohol by volume (ABV) while maintaining the flavor and character of traditional ale styles.
Like traditional ales, NA ales are typically fermented at warmer temperatures using ale yeast, which often produces fruit-forward aromas and more expressive flavor profiles compared to lagers.
Popular styles of non-alcoholic ales include:
Non-alcoholic IPAs
Blonde and golden ales
Pale ales
Dark ales and porters
As the alcohol-free beer market continues to grow rapidly, breweries are experimenting with increasingly bold ale styles to bring craft-beer complexity to the NA category.
