Best Day Brewing, based out of breezy Sausalito, California, has quickly built a reputation for filling the nonalcoholic craft space with beers that balance both approachability and ambition. With their coastal roots and sunny branding, Best Day Brewing often leans into lighter, easy-drinking styles that still bring depth and character to your face hole.
This week we are drinking Yuzu-Ginger Shandy from Best Day Brewing, a style that’s already rare to see in the NA market. Shandies are meant to be bright and refreshing, and the Yuzu-Ginger Shandy certainly looks the part with its blonde, golden-yellow glow. The roasted malts sneak through the scent center first, followed by just a whisper of ginger that tickles the sniffy holes.
In the slurp station, Best Day Brewing delivers a drink that is lighter than expected but still flavorful. The citrus takes a step back rather than overwhelming, which is a welcome surprise considering yuzu can often go full flavor-flood. Instead, the ginger adds a zesty zap and gives the sip a bite of bubbly brilliance. This shandy shouts “summer sipping satisfaction” without screaming sour citrus.
Untappd gives Yuzu-Ginger Shandy from Best Day Brewing a 3.5 out of 5. I’m coming in higher at a 4.2, because while shandies aren’t usually my first pick, this one is wonderfully balanced and downright delicious. Not every beer needs to be my go-to for me to appreciate its craft — and this one deserves a place in the rotation for anyone craving a crisp, creative quencher.
