Fashion’s biggest night never disappoints—but this year, the plus-sized queens turned the volume all the way up on glamour, innovation, and unapologetic self-expression. Under the theme “Tailored For You”—an ode to the art of Black tailoring and dandyism—our curvy icons delivered looks that ranged from sculptural masterpieces to head-scratching misfires, and while some channeled the spirit of the exhibit with effortless grace and precision, others took detours that left the fashion police scrambling for citations.
From custom corsetry and voluminous gowns to bold suiting and dramatic silhouettes, The Met Gala 2025 proved one thing: plus-sized fashion is not a side note, it’s center stage. Below, we break down the standout moments—slay and stray—from our fiercest full-figured fashionistas. Let the roundup begin.
Best Dressed:
Love her or hate her, Lizzo absolutely SLAYED!!! I mean, her look that criticized and slammed last year’s Met Gala theme celebrating the controversial Karl Lagerfeld (IMO) was reason enough for her to be extended an invitation for the event, but this?! My jaw was on the floor. I love how the gown plays with black and white and proportions. It has volume but isn’t overwhelming for her body shape, and it complements it by hugging her in all the right places.

Ashley Graham climbed the Met steps, serving high-powered elegance in a custom BOSS creation that reimagined the classic ‘90s power suit with sensual sophistication. Crafted from pinstripe wool, the sharply tailored look featured a dramatic shoulder and chest construction, reversed lapel detailing, and a daring deep V-neckline. The boned bustier and sleek silhouette hugged her curves before flaring into a regal train, delivering both structure and softness in a single, striking statement. Executive realness meets red carpet glamour, and Ashley owned every inch.

Bebe Rexha made a fierce first impression at her Met Gala debut, turning heads in a dramatic Christian Siriano ensemble that fused tailoring with theatrical flair. Leaning into the night’s theme, she rocked a sharply structured black jacket paired with a voluminous, layered tulle skirt—a look she described as her take on dandyism through “structured jackets.” Styled with fishnet gloves, Rexha delivered gothic glamor with a couture edge.

Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie made a powerful and poetic Met Gala debut, arriving as a vision in crimson couture by Prabal Gurung. As a guest and member of the evening’s host committee, the acclaimed author embodied the night’s theme with a stunning red gown adorned with feathers, bows, and bow ties, nodding to femininity and the menswear inspirations of Black dandyism. The cinched bodice sculpted her silhouette with tailored precision, while a sweeping train added drama and elegance. Paired with radiant diamonds and her signature grace, Adichie’s look wasn’t just fashion but literature in motion.

Worst Dressed:
Norwegian salmon empire heir and model Gustav Witzøe attended his third Met Gala. His look was a bit dull compared to all the other fashion-forward looks of the night.

Alex Newell wore this basic-looking ball gown by Christian Siriano. While she looks stunning, the look falls flat for an event as elegant and over the top as The Met Gala.

Pharrell Williams designed Malcolm Washington’s Met Gala look for Louis Vuitton. According to Luxferity, the look was a bespoke tuxedo featuring a double-breasted smoking jacket and flared trousers, all crafted from black Italian wool. The jacket had satin lapels and pearl-encrusted buttons. The coat could be a bit more tailored, as it looks a bit baggy, and the fit of the pants is downright offensive to me. The pants completely throw off the proportions of his body and make his legs look very wide.
