The 2025 Met Gala brought menswear to the forefront like never before with Superfine: Tailoring Black Style—a bold and deeply thoughtful celebration of Black dandyism, identity, and self-expression through suiting. With a dress code titled “Tailored for You,” the evening set the stage for redefining what men’s fashion can be: theatrical, political, precise, and unapologetically personal.
From bespoke brocade capes and corseted tuxedos to pleated trains and pinstriped skirts, the men of The Met brought their A-game—or at least tried to. Some looks hit every note of the theme with finesse, channeling legacy and flair with reverence and reinvention. Others? Let’s say not every hemline was worthy of the Cantor Exhibition Hall. Here’s our rundown of the standout wins and eyebrow-raising misses from fashion’s most finely tailored night.
Best Dressed:
Christian Latchman (who appears on the cover of the exhibition’s catalogue in a look by Wales Bonner) set the tone for the evening with his cream-colored suit accented by a bold, black disco collar and pink floral brooch fastened on the lapel. The pleated train billowing from his suit jacket filled me with excitement and delight.

“Atlanta” star Brian Tyree Henry wore a red suit designed by Orange Culture, a Nigerian fashion brand. He posted on Instagram that he was “fine and dandy like cinnamon candy,” and honestly, we agree.

Walton Goggins, from Season Three of The White Lotus, felt “Like the Commander of the Death Star” before his Met Gala 2025 debut. Donning a bespoke Thom Browne look, the actor tells Vanity Fair, “No one’s having more fun than I am.”

Another White Lotus alum, Patrick Schwarzenegger, stunned on the carpet in this custom Balmain look by Olivier Rousteing. The combination of crimson red, golden yellow, and navy pinstripe is divine.

SEVENTEEN’s S. Coups made a sleek and culturally resonant Met Gala debut, arriving in a custom BOSS look that blended traditional Korean heritage with contemporary tailoring. Inspired by the jeogori—the upper garment of the hanbok—the suit offered a timeless silhouette, reinterpreted with the clean lines and precision that define BOSS’s aesthetic. The ensemble was a masterclass in subtlety and symbolism, paying homage to his roots while aligning perfectly with the evening’s dress code.

Worst Dressed:
Cole Escola wore this bright and ill-fitting suit by Christopher John Rogers. I found the hair and makeup costumey, especially when paired with such a loud print. The overall look reminds me of that creepy porcelain doll you find staring at you from the corner of your Grandmother’s house.

Anthony Pratt is the Australian heir and billionaire head of the recycling and packaging empire Pratt Holdings, which owns Visy Industries. Pratt turned New York’s Met Gala into a promotional opportunity for his business, wearing a suit emblazoned with the recycling logo and the words “Pratt 100% recycled.” Honestly, I think he wore this only for attention and to get on the worst-dressed list to promote his business intentionally.

Michael Braun wore this Balmain vs Prince Gyasi, The Wait II, from 2018. I appreciate the risk… but he looks like a kid who was allowed to put together their outfit for the first time.

Dapper Dan arrived on the carpet in a suit of his own making. Unfortunately, this look reminds me of a penguin, and the suit jacket is much too short for him.

Grace Wales Bonner, a Black British designer, designed Eric N. Mack’s Met Gala look. This look reminds me of something my Nana would wear to pick up groceries at the store. It’s a miss for me.
