I used to turn to a gin & tonic when I wanted something to quench my thirst. And now that I’m no longer drinking alcohol, I am often offered a can of flavored seltzer. But honestly, I’ve never been a fan of fizzy water and have only found a few seltzers I like. I also love mixing cocktails and serving them in fancy vintage glassware. Dumping a can of seltzer in a glass just isn’t the same experience.
So, I was happy to be introduced to Mixly cocktail mixers. My experimenting began with their Pear Honey Vanilla Lime flavor. Yum! Following Mixly’s suggestion to pair with tonic, I had my first taste after I mixed 2 oz of Mixly with 7.5 oz of plain tonic. Of course, the aroma hit me first – there’s the scent of honey and then a taste of pear and honey with a hint of lime. Being a lover of citrus, I squeezed a bit more lime into my drink and gave it a stir. This was quite refreshing and I am excited to have a beautiful alternative now when I crave a bubbly drink to quench my thirst.
For a deeper dive into flavors and bundles and where to buy, you can find Alysse’s post about Mixly here. The pear honey vanilla lime flavor is sweetened with honey, not cane sugar or artificial sweeteners. It is suggested to be stored in a cool, dry place and refrigerated after opening. Once opened, it’s ideal to use within 3 weeks. I found this easy to do, as I loved the flavor!
