May the Sober Fourth Be With You | The Sober Curator

In a galaxy not so far away, The Sober Curator emerged as a beacon of light in the vast universe of sober pop culture. As a child of the 80s and a young adult of the 90s, my fascination with all things pop culture led me to launch The Sober Curator in 2020, with a vision to bring together a community of storytellers. The epic saga of Star Wars may not directly touch upon alcohol or substance struggles. Yet, its portrayal of the eternal battle between dark and light mirrors my journey from the shadows of the past to the brightness of the sober present.

With 18 orbits around the sun in the realm of sobriety, I’ve faced my own inner conflicts akin to the cosmic clash of good and evil. Through The Sober Curator, my mission is to infuse joy and whimsy into the serious business of recovery and alcohol-free living. As we celebrate the galactic event of May the Sober Fourth Be With You, know that the force of fun and camaraderie flows through every pixel on our hyperspace.

Behold, in the holocron below, witness the valiant efforts of The Sober Curator Contributors, a band of volunteers who toil behind the scenes to bring you the latest and liveliest content. Monthly meetings echo with tales, plans, and a united spirit that transcends borders, spanning across the lands of the USA, UK, Canada, and Mexico. From humble beginnings with a fearless four, our ranks have swelled to over 38 strong, weaving together over 400 years of unwavering sobriety and diverse paths to freedom from alcohol.

As diverse as the stars in the sky, we hail from varied origins, bonded by our shared mission as storytellers extraordinaire. Whether through the written word, melodious podcasts, or captivating visuals on YouTube, we weave narratives that resonate with souls far and wide. The cosmic truth reverberates through our bonds: in unity lies the antidote to the gravitational pull of addiction. Together, we illuminate the path to recovery, casting our stories into the void, unearthing kinship amidst the cosmic expanse.

In this cosmic voyage, I extend my deepest gratitude to these stellar souls, who have enriched my saga with their courage and creativity. May the force of recovery be with us, now and always.

In a galaxy where my passions know no bounds, there exists a realm where Star Wars reigns supreme. Those familiar with me or who have ventured into my abode understand my profound connection with the Star Wars universe. Crafting the Star Wars-themed 12 Steps, unveiling Levels of Sobriety steeped in the essence of this cosmic saga, and conjuring a Baby Yoda Alcohol-Free elixir in an elegant vessel have been exhilarating endeavors.

Embark on a journey through the stars by delving into our Sober Star Wars extravaganza via the above link. May the force be with you as you immerse yourself in this unique fusion of sobriety and the galactic wonders of Star Wars!

These adorable, crocheted Star Wars characters were handmade by my father, Gerry Bryson.

Star Wars Version of the 12 Steps:

    1. May the Force be with you, as you admit you are powerless over the Dark Side.
    2. Believe in the Jedi Order to restore you to sanity.
    3. Make a decision to turn your will and life over to the Light Side of the Force.
    4. Search your feelings and make a fearless moral inventory of yourself.
    5. Confess to Master Yoda, to yourself, and to another Jedi the exact nature of your wrongs.
    6. Be ready for the Force to remove all these character defects.
    7. Humbly ask the Force to awaken the good within you.
    8. Make a list of all beings you have harmed and be willing to make amends to them all.
    9. Make direct amends with such beings, except when doing so would cause harm.
    10. Continue to use the Force through meditation and reflection, and when you stray from the path, promptly admit it.
    11. Seek greater connection with the Force through meditation and communication.
    12. Having experienced the power of the Force, share this wisdom with other Jedi and practice these principles in all areas of your life.

Yoda Version of the 12 Steps:

    1. Powerless over the Dark Side, you must admit.
    2. Believe in the Jedi Order, find sanity, you will.
    3. To the Light Side, your will and life surrender.
    4. Fearless inventory of yourself, take.
    5. Confess to Master Yoda, you must, and others, the wrongs you have done.
    6. Remove character defects, let the Force do.
    7. Humbly ask the Force, awaken the good within you.
    8. List those harmed, make amends, you must.
    9. Direct amends, make, harm not causing.
    10. Stray from the path, admit promptly.
    11. Meditate and reflect, stay connected with the Force.
    12. Share wisdom with other Jedi, practice these principles always, you will.
