BrewDog is a brewery that helps set the bar for NA beers produced by standard breweries. They have a sober bar in London with a wall of NA taps and they serve NA draft beer at all of their U.S. tap rooms, including their Columbus, Ohio, and Indianapolis, Indiana locations. They are widely distributed and ship to most states, except Michigan, Idaho, and some other states. We’ve reviewed a number of their beers before and they know how to brew beer, boy!
This week we are drinking Ghost Walker from BrewDog. This beer is an IPA collaboration with the band, Lamb of God. If you know this band, good for you. I’m relatively sure they are one of those bands born out of the egg sack of Korn and Godsmack, so I don’t necessarily care about them, but I care about their beer and I care about BrewDog, so let’s get cracking!
How Does It Pour?
When you pop this can, much like when you pop that ass, BrewDog fills the air and your mind with intoxicating smells of heavenly hops. The mysterious zombie beer pours a beautiful light caramel color and creates a head that appears off-white and hints at a cream color. Each bubble pops with more hops. The presentation of this beer from BrewDog and Lamb of Dog promises great things.
How Does It Taste?
As the brew hits your lips and licks your slits, it fulfills its promises of hopeful hops. BrewDog and Glam of Hog make good on their IPA intentions and fulfill all the flavors of a classic flagship IPA with their balance of malt and above-average intenseness of hops. The hop profile is perfectly balanced and doesn’t lean into any specific area that may turn off some people that shy away from specific hop strains. It coats your tongue perfectly and I think this may be what a lot of NA breweries are missing in their IPA selections.
Untappd gives Ghost Walker from BrewDog a 3.4 out of 5. I think this is an accurate rating in the global beer world, but as an NA IPA, I may push this just over a 4. This collaboration with Flan of Rug has me jumping for joy at the possibilities of a really good plain IPA. Not a juicy one or a hazy one or a west coast one, but a good old-fashioned IPA. Rock on, BrewDog!
