Cara Benson presents An Armsfull of Birds, with Amy Shearn
P&T Knitwear is pleased to welcome Cara Benson to celebrate and discuss her new book An Armsfull of Birds; a story of recovery, love, and loss—a memoir of healing ourselves and the natural world.
Cara will be joined in conversation by Amy Shearn, author of Animal Instinct. Along with a discussion and audience Q&A, Cara will also sign copies of her book.
Doors open at 6:30pm with the talk starting closer to 7pm. Come early and grab a drink from the P&T Cafe!

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Cara Benson is the author of the memoir An Armsfull of Birds: A Personal Field Guide to Love, Loss, and Commitment. Her writing has appeared in The New York Times, Boston Review, Orion, Sierra, The Brooklyn Rail, and selected for Best American Poetry. She’s received a New York Foundation for the Arts Fellowship and lives in a former church in upstate NY on the ancestral lands of the Stockbridge-Munsee Band of Mohican Indians.
ABOUT THE MODERATOR
Amy Shearn is the author of five novels, including Animal Instinct, one of NPR’s “Books we love” of 2025. Her work has appeared in the New York Times Modern Love Column, Ms Magazine, the Wall Street Journal, O: The Oprah Magazine, and elsewhere. She lives in Brooklyn, where she teaches writing classes and works 1:1 with writers.

- This is a ticketed in-store event with limited amphitheater-style seating.
- Doors open at 6:30pm, with the talk starting around 7:00pm.
- Books will be available for purchase at the event.
