99 Bottles of NA Beer on the Wall

You know them. You love them. You want some more of them. I am, of course, talking about Athletic Brewing out of Connecticut. Athletic Brewing continues to grow and be the largest craft brewery in the non-alcoholic space. Dr. Pepper purchased a minority stake in Athletic Brewing for $50 million. That should tell you how good their product is. With all their limited-edition beers offered throughout the year and their awesome flagship beers, it’s no wonder they are doing so well.

How Does It Pour?

This week we are drinking Stump Jump by Athletic Brewing. Stump Jump is an autumn brown ale that promises caramel notes and a toasted, nutty finish. The can has a fun fall label and is ready to be cracked open. When you slide your finger under that aluminum ring and release the beer from its case, those roasted, toasted notes immediately fill the air. The beer pours a beautiful light brown with pretty decent clarity, and as the slightly off-white head dissipates, you get more of those same yummy, aromatic, autumn, toasty notes.

How Does It Taste?

When you finally bring this seasonal surprise to your succulent mouth, you immediately get the roasted malt flavor throughout your entire face hole. Athletic Brewing makes good on its promise with a slight sweetness from the caramel, but the balance comes from a toasted, almost graham-cracker-like finish. The fall vibes are always heavy with this seasonal beer from Athletic Brewing.

Untappd gives Stump Jump by Athletic Brewing a 3.5 out of 5. As far as brown ales go in the non-alcoholic space, I think I am on board. If we’re talking specifically about fall beers, I might pick this one over some of the other pumpkin-heavy beers you see in the autumn months. If it’s not for you, with the limited offerings, Athletic Brewing will surely make up for it within a month or two.
