The Daily Llama brings you the word of the day, short meditations for your complete wool-being (#seewhatwedidthere?) for Monday, September 28th through Friday, October 2nd.

    MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 28th

    WORD OF THE DAY: FORGIVENESS

    QUOTE OF THE DAY:

“The weak can never forgive. Forgiveness is the attribute of the strong.”

    — Mahatma Gandhi

    MEDITATE ON THIS:

In forgiving others for past offenses, we take our power back. We actively choose to let go of resentments and decide to no longer live with the mindset of being a victim. We forgive others often for our own benefit, so that we can live in freedom. We cannot live a joyful and fruitful life if every day we choose to drink from a cup of bitterness and resentment. To forgive a great injustice is no easy feat. It is the act of the truly brave and courageous. Who do I need to forgive today?

    TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 29th

    WORD OF THE DAY: TEMPERANCE

    MEDITATE ON THIS:

Temperance means to have self-control or self-restraint. This quote by Benjamin Franklin underscores how crucial having self-control is to having a good quality of life. Our ability to moderate all of our behaviors and keep to good habits is to our lives what our skeletal system is for our bodies. Big decisions and big events may impact our lives. But it is the small decisions we make every day that determine the quality of our lives. Where in my life do I need to practice more self-control in order to improve my life?

    WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 30th

    WORD OF THE DAY: GENEROSITY

    MEDITATE ON THIS:

We often think of generosity as the act of giving of money or time. Yet to be generous also means to be free from meanness or smallness of mind or character. When we are generous with our hearts, we are able to show up and be fully present for others. We stop judging them and we start loving them.  And when we love without reserve, we often receive back what give. How can I practice having a generous heart today?

THURSDAY, OCTOBER 1st (WELCOME TO SOBER OCTOBER!)

    WORD OF THE DAY: MAGNIFICENCE

    MEDITATE ON THIS:

Love is the most important ingredient for human growth. What we focus on grows. When we focus on another person’s negative attributes, then soon that becomes all we see. But when we actively strive to focus on what is beautiful about them, it often happens that they become more beautiful to us even though nothing about them has changed.  Who do I need to look at today with open heartedness and without judgment?

    FRIDAY, OCTOBER 2nd

    WORD OF THE DAY: COURAGE

    MEDITATE ON THIS:

Courage means having a quality of mind or spirit that enables us to face challenges, difficulties, pain or dangers regardless of our fears. It takes courage to keep our eyes clear from denial or self-deception. It takes courage to keep our hears open to others and full of love in a world which tempts us to withdraw for self-protection. How can I live with more courage today?
