Potion Workshops at Hekate

Potion Workshops at Hekate – NYC

Sign up to make your own non-alcoholic botanical shrub with a former sommelier on select weeknights at Hekate. The workshop is hands-on with a large variety of smells and tastes to explore. Everything you’ll need to make a delicious botanical shrub is included, along with a flavor expert for helpful hints if you want. Be a meticulous mad scientist or a jazzy witch. Space is limited! Walk-ins welcome, but please sign up to reserve your space. We recommend coming twice to give your herbs time to infuse (you’ll only be charged once).

Important Safety Notes:

This class is not recommended for pregnant people.

This class is sensory-focused and not an herbal medicine class.

The botanicals offered will all be on the “Generally Recognized as Safe” list from the FDA, and we can help with some general food safety recommendations, but since we’re not medical professionals or food-safety scientists, we can’t guarantee what you create is 100% safe, especially regarding drug interactions.

What’s Included

  • Over 20 botanicals to smell, taste, and create with

  • 750 mL apothecary bottle for your finished product and about 750 mL of a custom-designed-by-you botanical shrub (and hopefully some new friends). Depending on how sweet you like, how much vinegar the botanicals absorb, and how much you dilute the vinegar, you may get more or less.

  • Pre-Infused vinegar to smell, taste, and blend for a preview of your personal potion

  • Organic simple syrup to balance your infusions

  • Hot water to make teas to add complexity to finish your potion

  • White or Kraft-paper-style labels with basic art supplies to label your final concoction

  • Access to medicine droppers, scales, and herbal medicine books.

  • Guidance and ideas from a sommelier that you’re welcome to throw away, because this class is about hands-on IRL fun and exploration of aromas and flavors, not perfection or pretentiousness.
