Shopping is my cardio. I’ve said it before, and I will keep saying it. I love to shop. I love to gift. My house feels like I live in a gift shop, except nothing is for sale. I’m a sober maximalist and love being surrounded by things that bring me joy. (Except when it’s time to dust, that’s the only time I question my shopping choices. LOL) But even more than being surrounded by things that bring me joy, I love to gift and bring joy to others.
One of the things I love about shopping is the thrill of the hunt. Finding something unique and clever thrills me to no end. About Gina, Founder of Paper Phase (In her own words)
There was never an “Aha!” moment. It took ten years of disappointments, hundreds of blackouts, upset mornings, lots of crying, one rehab stay, and a million “I’m sorrys”. I decided to do just one clean month, starting March 1st of 2020, to cleanse my body. Covid hit shortly after, and I was forced to work from home. I knew if I had just one drink while working from home, it would ultimately escalate out of control. I decided to make my new goal 90 days. Then six months. Then one year.
Here I am, over two years later, alcohol-free, and I have never accomplished so many things in my life. Making these jars and connecting with other folks in recovery across the country through Paper Phase has only fueled my desire to remain alcohol-free. Before, I was a drunk, a flake, unpredictable, sloppy, and a liar. Now I’m a runner, a paralegal, a homeowner, a friend, a wife, an honest person, and happy.
