Welcome to the Classy Problems weekly mash-up for Monday, December 9 – Sunday, December 15, 2024.
Classy Problems is a daily post of thinking in motion by Dan T. Rogers. Each post stands alone as a thought-provoking piece, yet together, they create a puzzle of ideas. They invite you to see things from a different angle, rethink what you thought you knew, and explore what’s beyond your current understanding.

December 9 – Our Silent Guide
Intuition is often described as a ‘gut feeling’ but it’s far more complex and valuable than ‘gut’ suggests.
Intuition is an instinctive mental response that harnesses our knowledge and experience to deliver immediate insights, an emotional resonance that guides us subtly but powerfully, and a physical reaction that often precedes conscious thought, influencing our decisions and actions.
And it does all of that silently yet remarkably well — our gut seems to ‘get’ us and it’s right.
Harnessing the power of intuition means learning to trust these insights, resonances, and reactions — and integrating them into our decision-making processes. It requires practice and awareness to distinguish between intuition and impulse.
How do you differentiate between intuition and impulse?

December 10 – A Part Of Or Apart From?
Are you a part of the universe?
Or, are you apart from the universe?
Seems egotistical to ask — apart from the universe? How exactly would one separate from the universe? That said, our actions inform us of what we really believe to be true.
Which one are you?

December 11 – Adding An ‘i’
The word ‘based’ suggests something is founded upon factual, logical grounding. It speaks to decisions or opinions rooted in a solid framework of evidence or rationale — think ‘science-based’ approaches.
Adding an ‘i’ transforms the word into biased.
The word ‘biased’ implies a prejudice or preference that is preconceived and not based on reason or actual experience.
The written transformation mirrors the literal in that it is caused by adding an ‘i’.
Bias skews perspective, often leading to decisions that are not grounded in fairness or objectivity.
Navigating relationships and making informed decisions requires understanding whether our actions are based on rational thought or by biased personal inclinations.
What are your points of view based on?

December 12 – Strategizing a Plan
A plan is more than a list of steps; it’s an actionable mental framework that aligns intent with purpose and is strategically sequenced to guide our desired outcomes.
Strategizing a plan means navigating the complexities of our ambitions with precision. By integrating mental clarity, emotional depth, and strategic order, a well-crafted plan moves us effectively toward our aspirations.
Is your strategy to make a plan, or do you need a strategy for your plan?

December 13 – Planning a Strategy
Strategy is more than a plan; it’s the alignment of mental insight, emotional commitment, and physical execution toward a desired result — a goal.
It requires a deep commitment to the strategy, fueling perseverance, and adaptability in the face of challenges.
It involves sequencing actions to maximize efficiency and effectiveness towards an objective.
It provides a map, organizing each step to ensure every action is purposeful and aligned with the end goal.
Strategy is navigating complexity with clarity and precision, integrating thought, emotion, and action.
Does your desired outcome have a strategy that combines mental planning, emotional investment, and physical execution?

December 14 – Time is Built In
Every story that we create has time in it. It has a beginning, a middle, and an end.
Time is built into the story.
It doesn’t change reality, but it does change the story.
Take any story, what time does it begin and end? Today? This year? This century?
Where we begin is either built on the assumption that everything was static before the start of our story or it’s not relevant. The same is true for the end. Where we end the story implies finality. Fortunately, thebossissupergenerous and there aren’t nearly as many endings as we write into our stories.
What is the beginning, middle, and end of your story?

December 15 – Achievement or Goal
A goal has more protentional than just an outcome. It’s the mental target that gives our efforts direction, the emotional motivation that drives purpose-driven actions, and the physical aim that unifies work into meaningful progress.
A well-defined goal creates clarity, helping to prioritize what matters most and differentiate between our intention and someone else’s.
Goals are not just for achievement but for our own progression and alignment.
Are you aiming for achievement or for alignment?

What is a classy problem?
A classy problem is when we’ve been afforded the opportunity to figure out what to do. When faced with classy problems, it is more effective to focus on what NOT to do than trying to figure out what to do. In a word – restraint. Join us in exploring the distinction between what to do and what not to do in the pursuit of clarity.
