The Daily Llama Brings You The Word Of The Day With Short Meditations For Your Complete Wool-Being For The Week Of February 7th – 11th, 2022

The Daily Llama, by Staci DesRault, brings you short, one-word meditations and a corresponding quote plus a reflection for your complete wool-being (#seewhatwedidthere?) for Monday, February 7th – Friday, February 11th, 2022.

MONDAY, FEBRUARY 7TH

WORD OF THE DAY: UPLIFT

QUOTE OF THE DAY:

“The key is to keep company only with people who uplift you, whose presence calls forth your best.” – Epictetus

MEDITATE ON THIS:

One of the best forms of self-care we can pursue is to create strong relationships with people who regularly uplift us and remind us that we are loved. One of the best forms of service is to uplift others and remind them that they are loved.

The Daily Llama Fun Fact of the Day:

Today is National Send a Card to a Friend Day, National Periodic Table Day, National Sickie Day, National Fettucine Alfredo Day, and Ballet Day.

TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 8TH

WORD OF THE DAY: VALIDATE

QUOTE OF THE DAY:

“To see yourself, and for others to see you, is a form of validation. I’m interested in that very mysterious and mystical way we relate to each other in the world.” – Mickalene Thomas

MEDITATE ON THIS:

Some people may say we shouldn’t seek validation from others, that we should only seek validation from ourselves. But it is important to see some part of ourselves reflected in the world around us—to be told, “Yes! You’re here. You belong. We understand you.” Validation is not the whole journey. But it can push us out the door.

The Daily Llama Fun Fact of the Day:

Today is Extraterrestial Culture Day, Laugh and Get Rich Day, National Boy Scout Day, National Kite-Flying Day, and Safer Internet Day.

WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 9TH

WORD OF THE DAY: WONDER

QUOTE OF THE DAY:

“Look up at the stars and not down at your feet. Try to make sense of what you see, and wonder about what makes the universe exist. Be curious.” – Stephen Hawking

MEDITATE ON THIS:

In his book, Sophie’s World, Jostein Gaarder wrote: “A Russian astronaut and a Russian brain surgeon were once discussing religion. (…) The astronaut said, ‘I’ve been out in space many times but I’ve never seen God or angels.’ And the brain surgeon said, ‘And I’ve operated on many clever brains but I’ve never seen a single thought.’” There is more to this existence than the things that we know for fact. We need a certain spirit of wonder to be able to navigate it well.

The Daily Llama Fun Fact of the Day:

Today is National Toothache Day, Read in a Bathtub Day, National Pizza Day, National Bagel and Lox Day, and Chocolate Day.

THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 10TH

WORD OF THE DAY: XENIAL

QUOTE OF THE DAY:

“Nature promotes mutualism. The flower nourishes the bee. The river waters quench the thirst of all living beings. And trees provide a welcoming home to so many birds and animals. There is a rhythm to this togetherness.” – Ram Nath Kovind

MEDITATE ON THIS:

We really do need each other. We are not meant to do this alone. Most importantly, your presence is needed in the world today. You matter. Don’t let anyone, including yourself, tell you differently.

The Daily Llama Fun Fact of the Day:

Today is National Umbrella Day and National Cream Cheese Brownie Day.

FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 11TH

WORD OF THE DAY: YEARN

QUOTE OF THE DAY:

“What we yearn for as human beings is to be visible to each other.” – Jacqueline Novogratz

MEDITATE ON THIS:

To see and be seen are two of our most important core emotional needs. The deepest form of seeing is not done with our eyes, however, but with our hearts. It is when something inside of us recognizes something inside of another, and creates an invisible connection where there may not have been one before.

The Daily Llama Fun Fact of the Day:

Today is National Latte Day, Satisfied Staying Single Day, National Make a Friend Day, National Guitar Day, National Inventors’ Day, International Day of Women and Girls in Science, World Day of the Sick, and Don’t Cry Over Spilled Milk Day.
