Catch the Waves With Bravus Brewing Coconut Porter

Bravus Brewing, out of California, joins us again. As we creep into the category of dark beers, and as the days get chilly, we can be reminded of warmer and more tropical times with this hip beverage from the brewery whose dark beers have been called “Absolutely fricking delicious” by Chris Cable.

How Does It Pour?

Bravus Brewing’s Coconut Porter starts out by smacking you straight in the face with a burst of coconut aroma. The roasted malts and coffee notes come at a distant second to this overwhelming smell that creeps its way out of every little carbonation bubble and increases rapidly. Coconut haters be gone!

How Does It Taste?

Upon first taste, Bravus Brewing brings you the smell you have already filled your room with and again smacks you right in the mouth with more coconut goodness. The sweetness is hardly balanced by the roasted notes that also fill your tongue nodules, but this is a rare and nice treat in the world of NA beers.

Bravus Brewing’s Coconut Porter, much like Untitled Art’s Chocolate Milk Stout, is exactly what they say they are in that their flavors are crazy strong. With that in mind, I like to find a nice balance by cutting them with another dark beer. My persona favorite is either Bravus Brewing’s Oatmeal Stout or Athletic Brewing’s All Out Stout. Both coming soon in future reviews.

Untappd gives this sweet coconut NA brew a 3.3 out of 5. I like it, but I am weary of Bravus Brewing’s Coconut Porter if I am looking for a mild flavor. Go and find some if you still can, otherwise, put it on your list for next year, when you’re ready to catch the waves, bro!
