Learn more about Bridges to Change:

Charles Simpson and Joann Griffin founded Bridges to Change in 2004.  Mr. Simpson spent over sixteen years in the addictions field prior to founding Bridges to Change and had a passion for working with corrections and re-entry.  Ms. Griffin brought with her 9 years of experience on a hotline for incarcerated individuals and deep knowledge of the resources necessary for individuals re-entering the community to succeed. Both Chuck and Joann worked tirelessly for 11 years until they retired in 2015, leaving behind a legacy of dedication and passion.

    Their Mission:

To strengthen individuals and families affected by addictions, mental health, poverty, and homelessness.

    Their Vision:

    Creating hope through community.

    What They Do:

    Mentors:

The peer recovery mentors have lived experience in many areas where participants are seeking support. They are trauma-informed, compassionate, and ready to meet people where they are in the recovery process.

    Housing:

Bridges to Change offers transitional and permanent housing in Multnomah, Clackamas, Washington, Wasco, and Marion counties.

    Treatment:

They offer substance use disorder and mental health treatment in three different counties: Multnomah, Clackamas, and Washington.

SOBRIETY IN THE CITY: It’s always the perfect day for a perfect day! SOBRIETY IN THE CITY is your guide to substance-free adventures and events in cities across the United States.  We’re bringing you hidden gems, local hangouts, art exhibits, unique attractions and pop-up events, limited shows, and tours. Being fully present allows us to enjoy life to the fullest. But we’re still taking it in all, just one day at a time.

You can depend on SOBRIETY IN THE CITY for clean, creative alternatives to make the most of your time in these amazing cities.

Are you thinking about travel plans that involve more than a day or two in a city? WHAT A TRIP offers sober travel tips and agendas galore.

PAY IT FORWARD: We at The Sober Curator are big proponents of giving. Whether time, talent, or money, we all have unique gifts to share with others. Besides wanting to be a good human, there are many reasons to give. Multiple studies on the topic reveal that people who give time and money are happier, live longer, and feel more connected. According to Pablo Picasso, the meaning of life is to find your gift. But the purpose of life is to give it away. Pay it Forward will help you do just this.

Our resource directory provides reputable, vetted, recovery-related organizations seeking donations and volunteers to help make our communities better. The Sober Curator is always looking for new opportunities to give. If you have a favorite nonprofit organization related to recovery & mental health that you think we should feature, please share it with us at thesobercurator@gmail.com.
