WellBeing Brewing – Match Day Light

If you’re not new here, you know we’re already big fans of St. Louis’ own WellBeing Brewing. They have a solid lineup of staples you’ve seen here, including my favorite, Intentional IPA. Still, they also come out with limited runs and collaborations like this week’s pick that always blow your mind and leave your taste buds wanting more. I keep coming back with them and finally got them to partner with me to bring you a better beer at lower prices. Hooray!

This week we are drinking Match Day Light by WellBeing Brewing. This beer calls itself an English Premier Pale Ale and has a lot of decorations that make me think I should be drinking these during a football match or while watching a football game. Either way, my foot, your balls, this beer. Let’s do it! With promises of pub pride, I was excited to crack into this limited-edition brew from one of my favorite breweries.

How Does It Pour?

With the first crack of the can, WellBeing Brewing provides something I was not expecting. The air is filled with a balanced aroma of roasted malts and barley. Meanwhile, the beer comes out of the can like a shockwave of perfection. A beautiful copper color fills the glass in a shade of amber copper that is hard to come by in the NA space. The beer is extra filtered and slightly clearer than I would have expected, but the perfect color WellBeing Brewing provides truly does floor me. As the white head with a hint of tan dissipates, I am all in on this aromatic masterpiece.

How Does It Taste?

The balanced malt meanders around your tongue as you swish this brew in your talking hole. WellBeing Brewing steals the name of an English Pale, but this beer is a marriage between amber and an English Pale. Sure, it takes after mom in many ways, but that malt and barley weight on the front of your taste buds is more reminiscent of a balanced amber than an English Pale, in my humble opinion. The extra filtration is where WellBeing pulls out the stops and makes this an easy drinker. It has a crisp, clean finish and a light mouthfeel that makes you want to drink it and open another one.

Untappd gives Match Day Light by WellBeing Brewing a 3.4 out of 5. I’d peg that about accurate. It’s a nice style change from the normal offerings of hazy IPAs and juicy IPAs, and I am happy to add it to the rotation. Enjoy your football, football, and football (the secret one).
