Two Roots Brewing Co. Traditional German-style Helles – Enough Said

This week we are revisiting our delightful west coast friends, Two Roots Brewing. With a distribution facility on the other side of the country, in Auburn Hills, Michigan, Two Roots is becoming more widely available and is sure to be gracing the shelves of your local store if it’s not there already.

From Two Roots Brewing, this week we are trying Enough Said, a traditional German-style Helles. If you’re already familiar with this style going into a tasting, you may have high expectations, as most German styles are very particular in flavor. They do beer well over there, hence Oktoberfest.

How Does It Pour?

On the first pour, you get exactly what you would want from the traditional Helles style. Two Roots Brewing does a great job of keeping the color light and the head to a minimum crisp white layer on top. The aromas pop off immediately and you can smell the fresh-roasted malts and citrus hints in the air of carbonation bubbles popping at the surface.

How Does It Taste?

Enough Said by Two Roots Brewing hits your tongue with the familiar full body of a German Helles. The bitter hops add accent to a light sweetness while the overall flavor profile lives in the world of “exquisite German malt”, as Two Roots notes on the side of the can.

As far as NA German beers go, Two Roots Brewing made this one is particularly delicious. It’s exciting to see styles expand beyond the common IPAs, ambers, stouts, and lagers. This will surely be a treat in the fall during Oktoberfest, but will also definitely be enjoyed on a rooftop Biergarten with friends, and since it’s an NA, you don’t have to end the evening wondering what you did with your Wienerschnitzel.

Untappd gives Enough Said Helles by Two Roots Brewing a 3.4 out of 5, but as far as German-style beers go, this one is a gold medal for me, which is probably why they won the gold medal for this beer at the Great American Beer Festival in 2019. Go forth and enjoy!
