The One Where Justin Drank Dark Cookies From Two Roots Brewing On This Week’s Happy Every Hour

Two Roots Brewing joins us again from California or Michigan, depending on how you get your beers. This brewery continues to sneak up on me from my own backyard and freak me out with some delicious brews!

This week, we’re drinking one of Two Roots Brewing’s beers featured on our 12 Days of NAs special, and that beer is Dark Cookies. This is described as a milk stout brewed with cacao nibs, milk sugar, and coffee—a perfectly sweet taste for these cold winter days.

How Does It Pour?

Dark Cookies from Two Roots Brewing pours like you would hope a good stout does. A dark and thick liquid fills your glass while a light brown head forms, releasing the aromas of chocolate into the air. Two Roots Brewing does a great job of giving you the aromas of the ingredients right out in front, as I can also smell coffee and a hint of sweetness from the milk sugar.

How Does It Taste?

The professional quality of Two Roots Brewing continues as you taste the beer and get a beautiful mix of flavors right upfront. The coffee and cacao nibs hit you right in the front of your tongue and make you go, “oh, hey, this is delicious.” Just then, you get this mysterious sweetness, a sweetness I first mistook as lactose, but then found out was milk sugar (are they different?). This is the best combination of flavors as Two Roots Brewing dives into the milk and cookies feel with Dark Cookies Stout.

This is one for the books and a soon-to-be winter favorite for sure. Untappd gives Two Roots Brewing’s Dark Cookies a 3.8 out of 5. I think this may be spot on. I may even push it to a four. You know what? Yeah! I will! Ha! Eat that, Untappd! Seriously, though, if you can find this stuff, give it a try. It’s delightful and sweet and yummy. Rock on, Two Roots Brewing!
