The Daily Llama honors all those who are graduating from various levels of school this month, so this week we are focusing on words associated with graduation and quotes from Albert Einstein. Congratulations, Graduates! You did it!

MONDAY, MAY 10TH

THE DAILY LLAMA WORD OF THE DAY: COMMENCE

QUOTE OF THE DAY:

MEDITATE ON THIS:

Being educated is less about memorizing a bunch of facts and more about learning how to solve problems. It doesn’t really matter how many degrees you have or don’t have. In recovery, we have to be willing to learn from whatever point we’re at. We must commence with a new way of thinking because the way we used to think is part of the problem.

What old way of thinking is keeping you stuck?

The Daily Llama Fun Fact of the Day:

Today is National Clean Your Room Day

TUESDAY, MAY 11TH

THE DAILY LLAMA WORD OF THE DAILY: EMBARK

QUOTE OF THE DAY:

MEDITATE ON THIS:

When we embark on any new journey, inevitably there will be bumps in the road. Momentary slip-ups or setbacks can throw us off our game mentally, and leave us feeling discouraged. Making mistakes is part of the learning process, but only if we actually learn from them.

Think of a recent mistake you made. What can you learn from it?

The Daily Llama Fun Fact of the Day:

Today is National Twilight Zone Day

WEDNESDAY, MAY 12TH

THE DAILY LLAMA WORD OF THE DAY: GRADUATE

QUOTE OF THE DAY:

MEDITATE ON THIS:

While we may hit major milestones along the way, we never really graduate from recovery. We’re always learning and growing, and a huge part of being able to stay sober rests upon our willingness to remain open to feedback about ourselves. One of the red flags on the road to relapse is being too defensive.

Have you noticed any defensiveness in yourself recently?

The Daily Llama Fun Fact of the Day:

Today is National Limerick Day

THURSDAY, MAY 13TH

THE DAILY LLAMA WORD OF THE DAY: ASCEND

QUOTE OF THE DAY:

MEDITATE ON THIS:

Sometimes the way other people have done this or that can serve as inspiration and wisdom. They can help us get to where we want to be by offering guidance and knowledge. Other times the way other people have or would do something won’t help us at all because we are heading in a different direction.

When lost, it is better to get the directions from someone who is where you want to be than from someone who is as lost as you are, or who has never been where you are trying to go.

The Daily Llama Fun Fact of the Day:

Today is Eid al-Fitr, which commemorates the end of Ramadan for Muslims worldwide. It’s also National Apple Pie Day—a great way to end that fast! Christians around the world observe today as the Feast of the Ascension, which commemorates the day Jesus ascended into heaven.

FRIDAY, MAY 14TH

THE DAILY LLAMA WORD OF THE DAY: LAUNCH

QUOTE OF THE WEEK:

MEDITATE ON THIS:

Leaving behind what is known and familiar can create feelings of excitement and fear, joy and sadness, relief and longing. It is natural to have mixed emotions about saying goodbye to people and places that have meant so much in the past but are no longer serving us in the present.

There are times when it is clear that a certain relationship, job or situation is over and it is time to leave. There are also times when we are not ready for something to end, but the end has come anyway against our will. In general, our ability to be resilient in the face of change has a lot to do with our attitude about change.

Do you view change as your enemy or your friend?

The Daily Llama Fun Fact of the Day:

Today is National Dance Like a Chicken Day
