The Daily Llama’s Word of the Day and Meditations

The Daily Llama, by Staci DesRault, brings you short, one-word meditations and a corresponding quote for your complete wool-being (#seewhatwedidthere?) for Monday, June 19th – Friday, June 23rd, 2023.

MONDAY, JUNE 19th

THE DAILY LLAMA WORD OF THE DAY: SELF

QUOTE OF THE DAY:

MEDITATE ON THIS:

It is critically important that we learn to see ourselves clearly through our own eyes. The negative thoughts and judgments we have toward ourselves did not originate from us. A baby does not hate itself. Self-hate is learned over time through negative experiences.

The good news is that self-hate can be unlearned. We do this by seeking out corrective emotional experiences.

What forms of self-hate do you need to unlearn still?

TUESDAY, JUNE 20th

THE DAILY LLAMA WORD OF THE DAILY: EMBRACE

QUOTE OF THE DAY:

MEDITATE ON THIS:

Love is our birthright. Every person deserves the freedom to love and be loved, wholly and completely. Let us embrace the idea that we are made to love one another. Love is our natural state.

What is standing in your way of becoming more loving toward yourself? Toward others?

WEDNESDAY, JUNE 21st

THE DAILY LLAMA WORD OF THE DAY: PLENTY

QUOTE OF THE DAY:

MEDITATE ON THIS:

Sometimes we look at all the things we wish to change, fix or heal, and we can get quite overwhelmed. Nobody ever renovated a house in one day, or built a city overnight.

Change takes time. While there may be plenty to do, taking it one day at a time is enough.

THURSDAY, JUNE 22nd

THE DAILY LLAMA WORD OF THE DAY: NATURE

QUOTE OF THE DAY:

MEDITATE ON THIS:

Some of us may wonder if we were born alcoholics or addicts, or if our fates were sealed by our genetics. One of the top questions asked in rehabs is, “How did I end up here?”  Addiction is not caused by any one thing. The development of addiction comes from a combination of factors, one of which can be genetics.

But whether our addiction stems from nature or nurture does not matter much in the end. What matters most is what we decide to do about it.

You are more than your DNA. You are greater than your circumstances.

FRIDAY, JUNE 23rd

THE DAILY LLAMA WORD OF THE DAY: MOVE

QUOTE OF THE DAY:

MEDITATE ON THIS:

The best education does not come from Ivy Towers or a collection of fancy degrees. The best education comes from listening to and learning about life from the perspective of people who are different from you. If you keep doing the same things, you remain the same.

To get a different perspective, you need to move from where you’re sitting.
