The Daily Llama’s Weekly Word of the Day and Meditations

The Daily Llama, by Staci DesRault, brings you short, one-word meditations and a corresponding quote plus a reflection for your complete wool-being (#seewhatwedidthere?) for Monday, October 16th – Friday, October 20th, 2023.

MONDAY, OCTOBER 16th

WORD OF THE DAY: UNDAUNTED

QUOTE OF THE DAY:

MEDITATE ON THIS:

Undaunted means “undiminished in courage or valor; not giving way to fear; undismayed; not forced to abandon purpose or effort; intrepid.” Today we focus on cultivating an undaunted mind. We identify and dispute our irrational fears. We clarify our purpose. We make and keep healthy commitments for our bodies and spirits. We concentrate on the effort, not the outcome. We nurture an optimistic belief that we can achieve our goals.

TUESDAY, OCTOBER 17th

WORD OF THE DAILY: MOXIE

QUOTE OF THE DAY:

MEDITATE ON THIS:

Don’t give your power away by thinking you have none. You may not have ultimate or unlimited power, but you still have some. It may be hard to see at first. You may have to sit and think a while before you can tune into yourself and feel your strength. Before doing anything today, take a minute to muster your moxie. It’s there. You just have to make space for it by decluttering your old fears.

WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 18th

WORD OF THE DAYRECEPTIVE

QUOTE OF THE DAY:

MEDITATE ON THIS:

Sometimes our power does not come through being loud or big or strong. Sometimes our power comes through being receptive to what the universe is teaching us. We become receptive when we slow down and learn to listen deeply to the wisdom of our bodies. This is where intuition lives. This is how we cultivate insight.

THURSDAY, OCTOBER 19th

WORD OF THE DAY: OBSERVANT

QUOTE OF THE DAY:

MEDITATE ON THIS:

Take a few moments today to observe your choices recently. What do your choices tell you about yourself? Answer this question as honestly as possible.

Now take a moment to remove any statements that sound like justifications, rationalizations, minimizations, projections, or harsh judgments. Did anything change? What’s left?

Now take a moment to add some kindness or compassion toward yourself. What is the kindness that you need to give to yourself today?

FRIDAY, OCTOBER 20th

WORD OF THE DAY: SAGACITY

QUOTE OF THE DAY:

MEDITATE ON THIS:

Sagacity comes from the Latin word “sagacitas,” which originally meant “keenness of scent, keenness of the senses in general, the acuteness of mind, good judgment” (according to dictionary.com). Fear has multiple meanings. The most common meaning of fear is “to feel afraid or apprehensive or terror.” But fear can also mean “to have reverential awe, to respect.” Using this latter definition of fear, today’s quote takes on a deeper meaning. It is not our apprehensions that make us wise and making decisions to avoid what terrifies us rarely leads to peace or happiness or substantial change.

No, it’s what we hold respect for that leads us to wisdom. It is reverence for life that starts a revolution for change.
