Stand-Up 4 Recovery: Where Laughter Meets Recovery in Atlanta

In its 9th production, Stand-Up 4 Recovery has solidified its reputation as the go-to sober, recovery-oriented entertainment in Georgia. This monthly event brings top-notch comedy to ATL and now Athens too, featuring comedians in recovery from addiction and mental health challenges. As seen on PBS and NPR affiliate WABE, past performers have graced stages on Comedy Central, HBO, Conan, Fallon, Letterman, and more. This month, the spotlight shines on the local talent that Georgia has to offer.

Stand-Up 4 Recovery (SU4R) has partnered with Georgia Overdose Prevention to provide free overdose reversal training to audiences and staff at all events, along with a supply of intranasal overdose reversal medication.

Supporting SU4R means contributing to their mission of reducing overdose deaths across Georgia. The collaboration with Onward Theatre, a non-profit in beautiful Adair Park (Atlanta’s first park), aims to uplift marginalized communities through comedic arts. Join the mailing list for upcoming sober open mics and comedy clinics tailored for the recovery community.

Stand-Up 4 Recovery features national touring and regional comedians in recovery from substance use and mental health challenges. The event highlights the essence of connection found in recovery, showing that laughter can be a powerful link between individuals. While recovery is a serious journey, SU4R reminds us not to take ourselves too seriously, infusing fun into the process.

SU4R actively combats the opioid epidemic by distributing Narcan, a life-saving overdose reversal medication, to comedy venues across Georgia and training staff on its use. Proceeds from ticket sales and merchandise contribute to this crucial initiative.
