Felicia Hermle
Sobriety & Spirituality

Felicia believes that God & sobriety come first, everything else follows. This is ideal, although there are plenty of times she seems to mess up the order. Without her Higher Power & the sobriety she’s been gifted, she believes there would be nothing worth sharing about her personal and professional life. She’s been given the grace to live a new sober life since March 20, 2011. Although she grew up in church, she didn’t find Jesus or understand grace until she came into the rooms in 2011.

She believes relationships are more important than religion and she experiences her Higher Power the most through deep conversations with others who are struggling with the hard questions in life. Her deep desires are to be authentic, raw, and real and she loves to create space for others to do the same. The big lessons of spirituality as of late that she’s been encountering in her life include learning to be more playful and to love hard.

Personal

Felicia grew up in San Jose, CA and still calls it home but recently relocated to Sacramento with her husband and two kids. A large piece of her heart will always reside in San Jose and she’s often reminded of her love for the city when her 4 year old asks her to play, “Do you know the way to San Jose,” by Niel Diamond on Spotify. Her toddlers are wonderful spiritual teachers, the greatest teachers she’s ever had.

Professional

Felicia has been working in the field of addiction recovery for 10 years and she’s passionate about walking alongside others on their recovery journeys. In 2021, after her daughter was born she decided to leave her 6 figure government job and dive into entrepreneurship. That year, she launched her private practice, Brave Soul Therapy, where she helps stressed out high achievers find and maintain sobriety and mental wellness.

In 2023, she became the host of Sobriety Checkpoint, a podcast about emotional sobriety for parents in recovery. Felicia is also a founding board member of Zion Gate, a nonprofit in San Jose that exists to curate a culture of spiritual revival, emotional restoration and creative renaissance. Sobriety Checkpoint is tucked under the umbrella of Zion Gate. These professional endeavors are teaching her to trust her Higher Power more and about her identity as a creative with a teacher’s heart. She does not believe in coincidences, and she’s grateful to be part of The Sober Curator to exercise her creativity as a writer.
