Sober Contributor – Bellevue, Washington, USA

Founder, Eternally Amy Podcast & A-Team Press, LLC

Amy Liz Harrison is the bestselling author of two memoirs: “Eternally Expecting: A Mom of Eight Gets Sober and Gives Birth to a Whole New Life…Her Own” and “Eternally Awkward: A Future Mom of Eight Reflects on Mysteries of Anxiety, ADHD, and Coming of Age in the 80’s” and co-author of the anthology, “The Epiphanies Project.” She’s also a 12-step coach, a recovery/mental health advocate, and the host of the “Eternally Amy” podcast. As if that isn’t enough to keep her busy, Harrison is also the founder and CEO of an independent publishing company, A-Team Press, LLC. With plenty of humor, recovery, and pop culture references, you will love her books, podcast, and newsletter if you ever played Frogger on an actual Atari.

Rewind Throwback…

A native Californian, Harrison was born in LA and grew up in Mountain View. In her early years, she survived rotary phones, bad perms, and no seatbelts in the rear-facing third seat of the family station wagon. Like many Angelenos, she wandered back to LA for college, earning her Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies. Returning to Silicon Valley after graduation, she wasted no time getting engaged to an Australian accountant she knew for 6 weeks. Though not on a reality TV show, they tied the knot a few months later in 1998 and eventually moved to the Seattle area in 2001. Harrison taught tenth grade English until she had their first baby, while her husband became an airline executive.

Breaking Point and Recovery

Feeling lost in the new mom fog and in a new city, Harrison became a founding member of the “Mommy Wine Club.”  Following two trips to rehab and a DUI, Harrison finally got sober in 2011. Today, she has over a decade of sobriety and eight biological babies with that same Aussie airline guy, who remains supportive of her recovery flight plan.

Harrison believes that the opposite of addiction is love and connection. She also believes if you don’t tell her she has lettuce in her teeth, you’re dead to her. She is currently spearheading a clandestine society of airline executive spouses who moonlight as Biggie and Tupac conspiracy theorists.
