When asked to write this bio, all I could think of was what PeeWee Herman said in PeeWee’s Big Adventure:

“I’m a loner, Dottie. A rebel.”

The only differences I can think of between PeeWee and myself are that I don’t have a cool bike, can’t tie a bowtie, and am not a loner. I also don’t have a friend named Dottie. And I don’t have any white dress shoes. Maybe I’m not like PeeWee at all…

But thanks to my sobriety, I am a bit of a rebel. It has given me the strength to fight the urge to follow the crowd and “have just one.”

Besides being a rebel, I’m a husband to my amazing wife, Chris, and we are parents to our awesome kids, Max and Alex. Our family is also fur baby parents to our dog Spock and cat Galileo.  I’m a public education advocate, serving on my local school board for over a decade. Side note – Getting sober as a school board member during a pandemic is hard, even rebellious.

As a teenager, I’ve saved my fair city of Sheboygan, Wisconsin, twice – playing Batman in “The Superheroes Who Saved Sheboygan” over a couple of summers with the help of many grade schoolers. Today, I read at a local children’s garden but no longer wear tights, a cape, or a utility belt. (at least in public, lol) And, unlike Batman, I will dance to “Tequila,” even if I no longer drink it.
