Two Roots Brewing – The Hops Are Heavy, But The Balance Falls Right Into Place

Two Roots Brewing, an exclusively non-alcoholic brewery, started its operation on the West Coast, but 2021 has brought them across the country through a partnership with the production facility of Rochester Mills Brewing in Auburn Hills, Michigan. Because of this leap, you can now get Two Roots’ three varieties pretty much anywhere and they are adding three new varieties to their menu this summer!

Two Roots Brewing’s New West IPA is their second IPA release and possibly their better one, but we’ll have to wait for that review. As the name suggests, they are looking to release a new take on a West Coast IPA by adding in elements of the popular East Coast Hazy IPAs. The result is a beer that pours that beautiful copper color we have come to expect from an IPA, but with notes of fruit and hops bouncing off the top of the glass.

How Does it Taste?

The flavor matches the aroma on first taste as the hoppiness (no coincidence that word is so close to ‘happiness’) fills your mouth. I was trying to pinpoint what hops Two Roots Brewing used in this NA beer, and I may be wrong, but my guess is on Mosaic hops, maybe Citra. Either way, this non-alcoholic treat does not disappoint. The hops are heavy, but the balance falls right into place with the fruit-forward blanket that comes over your tongue immediately afterward. Like both a West Coast and East Coast IPA, this NA beer is a light in mouthfeel and could be enjoyed happily on a summer day.

What’s Your Flav?

Overall, I have to encourage anyone that misses the flavors of IPAs, especially the fruity West Coast ones and hazy East Coast ones, to give Two Roots Brewing New West IPA a try. With their wide distribution and exclusivity to non-alcoholic beers, it’s a great option anytime you want to taste those sweet hops and avoid the hangover, cause drunk doesn’t look good on anyone!™
