WHO IS REHAB BARBIE?

Rehab Barbie is a brand born from REAL people and their REAL journeys of recovery from addiction and mental illness. They aim to create a collection of accessories that celebrates and inspires recovery in others.

They need YOUR help to launch!  Right now, they have samples of all of their products and your pledges will go towards building up their stock and launching the products for purchase online.

THEIR STORY

Rehab Barbie is founded on the principle that dealing with mental illness and addiction is not something to be ashamed of. Like any other disease or condition that affects humankind, these illnesses are a product of disordered function in our body. In those who suffer from heart disease, diabetes, or cancer, the disease attacks the body’s heart, pancreas, or cells. In mental illness and addiction, the disease attacks the brain. Yet, a cloud of stigma and shame often surrounds diseases like addiction, depression, schizophrenia, PTSD, bipolar disorder, and eating disorders, often leaving those who suffer from them unable or unwilling to seek out the treatments that could save their lives.

The Rehab Barbie brand is about shedding anonymity and speaking out against the stigma. Recovery is something to celebrate, not kept secret. They want to commemorate everyone who has ever struggled and won against these diseases and to inspire and support those still sick, still suffering and STILL fighting. Whatever your journey may be, wherever you are in it, they hope you’ll share it with them.

Join the Rehab Barbie Tribe

Anyone who has experienced the depths of addiction and mental illness knows the importance of surrounding yourself with a tribe of people who lift you up, help you through your very worst moments, and celebrate your victories. Rehab Barbie is about more than just their products, it’s building a community full of love, support, and dark humor, for all of us who are suffering, have suffered, or know someone who is.

Follow along with them in all the digital places and spaces:

Rehab Barbie Gives Back!

At the time of their official launch, Rehab Barbie is committed to donating a percentage of all sales to causes that stand and fight for the same thing that they do. And I’m here to tell you they’ve picked two really great organizations to support.

Foundation for Alcoholism Research | a non-profit dedicated to accelerating medical research for the treatment of alcoholism.

To Write Love on Her Arms | a non-profit movement dedicated to presenting hope and finding help for people struggling with depression, addiction, self-injury, and suicide.  Sober Curator Pro Tip: We heart TWLOHA too!

#ADDTOCART TWLOHA

The jewelry collection features ten designs, handcrafted in New York City, with 18-karat gold plated metal, gemstones, and freshwater pearls.

THE TRIBE BRACELET

This bracelet is made to be worn in solidarity with your tribe–the ride-or-dies that will be there for you no matter what life brings. The butterfly silhouettes are set between two pieces of moonstone, said to heal and guide you to your inner path. Handmade in NYC with 18-karat gold-plated beads.

THE TURQUOISE RIBBON

A strand of turquoise, inspired by the turquoise ribbon for support of addiction recovery, embellished with a gold lip charm. This design harnesses the turquoise stone’s healing power to bring serenity, hope, and protection. Handmade in NYC with turquoise stone

THE ‘STRENGTH’ BRACELET

You’re a warrior, babe. Honor your inner and outer strength with this gold and turquoise bracelet. Handmade in NYC with 18-karat gold plated metal, turquoise stone, and resin letter beads.

THE ‘RECOVERY’ BRACELET

A bracelet in celebration of your journey of recovery. Handmade with NYC with freshwater pearls, 18-karat gold plated metal, and peridot stones and fastened with lobster claw hook.

THE ‘ODAAT’ SET

Sobriety ain’t easy, and this bracelet gives you a (not so) gentle nudge to stick with it for just one more day. Handmade in NYC with 18-karat gold plated beads, Austrian crystals, and resin letter beads.

THE ‘GLOBE’ BRACELET

The globe bracelet is designed to recognize addiction and mental illness as the global problem that it is, as well as to celebrate the unity of our tribe in support of one another throughout our journeys to recovery. The strand pairs a golden globe charm with blue apatite and green howlite to mimic the land and water making up the earth. Handmade in NYC.

THE BUTTERFLY BRACELET

A simple strand of 18-karat gold-plated beads, featuring the butterfly motif symbolizes freedom, transformation, and rebirth. The butterfly is set between two peridot stones– the ‘stone of compassion,’ said to promote harmony and peace.

THE BALANCE SET

For a balanced heart: alternating shades of black and white are paired with 18-karat gold-plated circle beads, which represent the heart’s infinite capacity for love. Two turquoise stones symbolize friendship and stimulate romantic love. For a balanced mind: Composed of a half black, half white band, this bracelet corresponds to the right and left sides of the brain. At the center is a blue Shoushan Stone, known for its power to ‘awaken the mind.’ Handmade in NYC with 18-karat gold and rose-gold plated beads, semi-precious stones, and polymer clay.

THE I ♥ PROZAC BRACELET

Show your affection for appropriately prescribed pharmaceuticals with this delicate gold and pearl bracelet. This versatile piece will instantly elevate your look, whether stacked next to a Rolex or an in-patient hospital band. Handmade in NYC with 18-karat gold plated beads, freshwater pearls, polymer clay, and resin letter beads.

THE BIRDIE BRACELET

We know that you keep it classy. But sometimes, the situation calls for a little rowdiness. Add a glimmering tone next time you flip someone off; pairs best with a fresh new set of talon acrylics.

Rehab Barbie Materials

Rehab Barbie jewelry is crafted from high-quality materials–real 18-karat gold plated beads, freshwater pearls, and an array of colorful gemstones–to ensure a beautiful, long-lasting design for each and every piece. Each stone is hand-selected for its aesthetic qualities as well as its spiritual meaning and metaphysical properties. This collection is made with moonstone, apatite, green howlite, Shoushan stone turquoise, and peridot.

Risks and challenges

Although they are a small team, they have the grit to confront any challenges that may arise, and the flexibility to adapt to changes as needed. However, they have put in the time and effort to develop quality supplier partnerships and production processes that make their job easy and minimize the risk of any issues arising.
