About Scott Joseph Page
After getting sober in 2019, Scott spent many therapy sessions discussing the frustration of not readily being able to meet other sober-minded individuals in a social environment. He also had a desire to get out of the house and engage in socially sober activities but did not have the financial means or know where to begin. After years of complaining, he and Co-founder Jackie Slaugenhaupt decided to do something about it. They started Teetotal Initiative, a 501(c)3 nonprofit that focuses on creating free events, classes, and outings to build a sober community and help combat leading causes of relapse – isolation, loneliness, and boredom.
Teetotal Initiative has become a passion he developed not only as an individual in recovery but also to build a sense of community for others who find themselves with the same challenges and struggles. Scott currently works in Human Resources and is finishing a master’s degree in clinical Mental Health Counseling. He spent many years working in the hospitality industry, coordinating and executing everything from weddings to high-end galas. Scott also has a BFA in Musical Theater from The University of the Arts. He is a proud dog dad to three beautiful Bichons and also enjoys baking, mixing up zero-proof cocktails, and supporting the cultural scene in his spare time.

About Teetotal Initiative
Teetotal Initiative is a Pittsburgh-based 501(c)3 non-profit focused on individuals committed to a sober lifestyle.
Teetotal Initiative’s inclusive and sober-focused high-quality programming addresses some of the most common causes of relapse – isolation, boredom, and loneliness. Our mission is to help individuals to sustain sobriety. Our goal is to enhance quality of life and support relapse prevention through free events, activities, and high-quality programming.
As the first-of-its-kind recreational sober community, Teetotal Initiative inspires a stigma-free and celebratory social atmosphere, promoting meaningful sobriety and community opportunities for all, regardless of their journey to recovery. We welcome all forms of recovery and are not aligned to any specific program. Teetotal Initiative does not provide support groups or professional medical services. Instead, we care for the “rest of life” that happens outside of formal treatment and group support and are a complement to anyone’s recovery toolbox.
