Think of them as walk-through sculptures—where the building itself becomes the experience. \n\nOriginally started by collector Evan Mirapaul and inspired by art houses in Japan\, each home invites you into a completely different world. You might find yourself crawling through tunnels\, uncovering hidden rooms\, or stepping into scenes that feel surreal\, mysterious\, and impossible to fully describe. It’s something you truly have to experience for yourself. \n\nDuring our visit\, we’ll explore three distinct houses:\n• Kunzhaus by Polish artist Robert Kuśmirowski — a haunting illusion of time and decay\n• Darkhouse Lighthouse by Lenka Clayton and Phillip Andrew Lewis — a poetic meditation on light and perception\n• Mrs. Christopher’s House by Mark Dion — an intricate exploration of history and collecting \n\nAll three houses are located just a few hundred feet apart\, making it easy to take in this unforgettable experience in one afternoon. \n\nA few important details to keep in mind:\n• Visits are by appointment only \, and space is strictly limited\n• Punctuality is essential to keep the group on schedule\n• This experience includes multiple flights of stairs and tight spaces\n• A docent will guide us through each installation\n• The Troy Hill Art Houses do not permit children under age 15 \n\nGetting There:\n• By Car: Free street parking is typically available on Rialto St.\, Tours St.\, or Ley St.\n• Public Transit: PAT Bus Route #4 (Troy Hill) stops just a 2-minute walk away\n• Note: If coming from the Northside\, Rialto St. is one of the steepest and narrowest roads in the city—plan accordingly! \n\nThis is one of those experiences that’s hard to put into words—but easy to fall in love with.
