SUMMARY:Creative Kaleidoscope: Watercolor Curiosities - Jumping Spiders!
DESCRIPTION:Creative Kaleidoscope: Watercolor Curiosities – Jumping Spiders!\n\nWed\, Oct 07 \n | \nRoots of Faith \n\n\nBig eyes\, fuzzy legs & lots of personality! Join us for a playful fall watercolor workshop painting colorful jumping spiders. 🕷️🎨 \n\nTime & Location\n\n\nOct 07\, 2026\, 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM \nRoots of Faith\, 800 Main St\, Sharpsburg\, PA 15215\, USA \n\n\n\n\n\nAbout the event\n\n\n\nCreative Kaleidoscope: Watercolor Curiosities – Jumping Spiders! 🕷️🎨\nWednesday\, October 7\, 2026 \n6:00 PM – 8:00 \n800 Main Street\, Sharpsburg\, PA \n \nOur summer watercolor workshop featuring colorful jellyfish was such a hit that we knew we had to bring it back. This time\, we’re giving it a wonderfully weird spooky twist. \n \nAnd what better way to welcome October than with some tiny\, fuzzy\, surprisingly adorable spiders? \n \nWatercolor Curiosities: Jumping Spiders\nBig eyes. Fuzzy legs. Ridiculous little faces. \nJumping spiders may be tiny\, but they have an astonishing amount of personality\, and they’re even more fun to paint. \nJoin instructor Heather Roper for an evening of watercolor exploration as we turn simple shapes and bright washes of color into our own wonderfully strange little spiders. \nWe’ll play with water and pigment\, layer vibrant colors\, add those gloriously unruly hairs\, and finish with the enormous\, shiny eyes that give jumping spiders their irresistible charm. \nNever painted with watercolor before? Come anyway. \nThis workshop is designed to be approachable\, playful\, and fun\, with plenty of guidance along the way. You’ll learn watercolor techniques you can use again and leave with a colorful spider that is entirely your own. \nWhether you think jumping spiders are adorable\, fascinating\, slightly terrifying\, or some combination of all three\, this is your chance to slow down\, get creative\, and discover just how much personality can fit on eight tiny legs. \nNo experience necessary. All materials provided. \n \nYour Instructor: Heather Roper\nHeather Roper is a watercolor artist based in Pittsburgh and a former language arts teacher. Originally from Western Pennsylvania\, she spent a decade living in the U.S. Virgin Islands before returning to the region. \nHer work transforms the ordinary into the quietly magical\, often depicting anthropomorphic animals in small\, tender rituals. She recently exhibited her work in a two-month solo show\, Creature Comforts\, at The Soft Spot in Garfield. \nCome spend an October evening with us getting a little curious\, a little colorful\, and maybe even falling in love with a spider. 🕷️🎨 \n \n*RSVP opens 9/30 \n\n\n\n\n\nLove what you read? #sharesobriety\n Share on Facebook (Opens in new window)\n Facebook\n \n Share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)\n LinkedIn\n \n Share on Pinterest (Opens in new window)\n Pinterest\n \n Share on X (Opens in new window)\n X\n \n Share on Tumblr (Opens in new window)\n Tumblr\n \n Share on Reddit (Opens in new window)\n Reddit

SUMMARY:BACKSTAGE w/ TSC Presents: SOBER SPORTS Fairways\, Fresh Powder and Four Wheels
DESCRIPTION:BACKSTAGE w/ TSC Presents: SOBER SPORTS Fairways\, Fresh Powder and Four Wheels\nSports and drinking have been sold to us as a package deal for decades. The 19th hole. Après-ski. The tailgate. I think that deal is expiring\, and this panel is the proof. \nSober Sports brings together three people\, on three continents\, who swapped the drink for the thrill. They’ll get into what changed when they started playing sober: the focus\, the friendships\, the 6 a.m. tee times you actually show up for. \nThis is one of the most international gatherings we’ve hosted at BACKSTAGE. Our guests are dialing in from the U.S.\, France and Australia. Somebody’s having coffee\, somebody’s winding down for the night\, and nobody is ordering a round. \nWhat we’re talking about: \n\nGolf: why the sport is quietly turning into one of sobriety’s best-kept secrets\, and how a sober golf community went national.\nSkiing: rewriting après-ski in one of the most famously boozy cultures in the Alps.\nElectric skateboarding: getting into an extreme sport in early recovery\, and competing at nationals nine days before turning one year sober.\nThe bigger picture: finding your people when the social script for your favorite sport revolves around a drink.\n\nSober\, sober curious\, weekend warrior or couch commentator: you’re welcome here. \nMeet the guests\nCorey Davis\, Founder of SOBA Golf (United States)\nCorey got sober at 22 and has more than 15 years of continuous sobriety. He picked up golf in 2020 and took his handicap from 30 to 4 in four years\, which tells you everything about what sober focus can do. He founded SOBA Golf to give sober\, sober-curious and wellness-minded golfers a community of their own\, with local events\, retreats and a podcast.\nsoba.golf \nBen Coombes\, Founder of Soberski (France)\nBen built Soberski on a simple verdict: “The Alps in winter are intoxicating enough.” Based in Méribel\, in the heart of the Three Valleys and its 600 km of skiable terrain\, Soberski runs alcohol-free luxury chalet weeks. Think sauna\, hot tub\, cold plunge\, yoga\, breathwork and unlimited alcohol-free drinks. Après-ski\, rewritten.\nsoberski.co.uk \nBianca Criaco\, Electric Skateboarder and Wellness Educator (Australia)\nBianca is a Pilates instructor\, wellness educator and host of The Choice Podcast\, based on the Gold Coast. She found electric skateboarding in recovery. In August 2026 she competed at Australia’s electric skateboard nationals as one of only two women in the field\, nine days before her one-year sober anniversary. She’s also a contributing author to When Women Finally Speak.\nbiancacriaco.com \nEvent details\n\nDate: Tuesday\, October 6\nTime:12 PM PT / 3 PM ET / 9 PM France / 5 AM Gold Coast\nWhere: Live on Zoom\, exclusively for BACKSTAGE members\nReplay: available in the BACKSTAGE library\n\nNot a member yet? Join BACKSTAGE with The Sober Curator for live conversations like this every month\, plus the replay library\, Book Club\, The Story Session and more.\nJOIN BACKSTAGE \nBACKSTAGE MEMBERS – Please log in to the BACKSTAGE dashboard to access the Zoom link or check your inbox for the email that will be sent one-hour beforehand. \nLove what you read? #sharesobriety\n Share on Facebook (Opens in new window)\n Facebook\n \n Share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)\n LinkedIn\n \n Share on Pinterest (Opens in new window)\n Pinterest\n \n Share on X (Opens in new window)\n X\n \n Share on Tumblr (Opens in new window)\n Tumblr\n \n Share on Reddit (Opens in new window)\n Reddit

SUMMARY:Writing with Tarot: Symbolism as a Tool for Creativity with Tawny Lara
DESCRIPTION:Writing with Tarot: Symbolism as a Tool for Creativity with Tawny Lara🔮\n\n Monday\, Oct 5th\n 6-8EST with WritingWorkshops.com\n Live Seminar Via Zoom (class will be recorded)\n\n  \nFrom Tawny: \nI see Tarot cards as tiny little pieces of witchy art with a rich\, complex history. \nTarot cards are one of my many tools for writing prompts and introspection. I’m a lifelong student\, voraciously learning from Mariana Louis and Alyssa Polizzi\, who analyze tarot from an Archetypal\, Jungian lens\, Chelsey Tarot for Creativity who wrote an amazing book about Tarot and Creativity\, and Jessica Dore\, who’s readings are filled with therapeutic\, philosophical gold. \nIn this 2-hour generative writing class\, we’ll use Tarot imagery across the ages as writing prompts. Think art history meets journaling\, with zero fortune-telling. Just a relaxed\, inspiring space to write\, think\, and explore. \nCome hang! \nWhat We’ll Do\n\nTarot 101 – A quick\, friendly intro to suits\, court cards\, and the major/minor arcana—no prior knowledge required. If these words mean nothing to you\, you’re still very much in the right place.\nLearn – Explore Tarot imagery from the 1600s through modern decks\, paired with guided writing prompts.\nInquire – Use the cards to investigate your current creative project\, whether you’re stuck\, starting\, or mid-flow.\nThink – Connect Tarot imagery to your own life experiences and develop meaningful\, personalized writing prompts.\nQ + A – The final 10 minutes are open for questions about writing\, publishing\, journalism\, media\, podcasting\, and creative goal-setting.\n\nLove what you read? #sharesobriety\n Share on Facebook (Opens in new window)\n Facebook\n \n Share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)\n LinkedIn\n \n Share on Pinterest (Opens in new window)\n Pinterest\n \n Share on X (Opens in new window)\n X\n \n Share on Tumblr (Opens in new window)\n Tumblr\n \n Share on Reddit (Opens in new window)\n Reddit

SUMMARY:National Mental Health Awareness Week
DESCRIPTION:National Mental Health Awareness Week\nMental Illness Awareness Week was established in the U.S. in 1990 recognition of efforts by the National Alliance on Mental Illness to educate and increase awareness about mental illness. It takes place every year during the first full week of October. \nMental health affects everyone. While one in five U.S. adults experiences a mental health condition annually\, the impact extends to the friends\, family\, coworkers\, and others who support them. Mental health is something we all experience\, manage\, and need support with. No one should have to face these challenges alone. \n\n\n\nLove what you read? #sharesobriety\n Share on Facebook (Opens in new window)\n Facebook\n \n Share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)\n LinkedIn\n \n Share on Pinterest (Opens in new window)\n Pinterest\n \n Share on X (Opens in new window)\n X\n \n Share on Tumblr (Opens in new window)\n Tumblr\n \n Share on Reddit (Opens in new window)\n Reddit

SUMMARY:Creative Kaleidoscope: Sacred Stitches
DESCRIPTION:Creative Kaleidoscope: Sacred Stitches\n\nSat\, Sep 26 \n | \nCarnegie Library of Pittsburgh – Squirre \n\n\nDiscover the calming art of mindful hand-stitching. Sacred Stitches blends creativity\, connection\, and Japanese-inspired traditions into one relaxing\, hands-on experience. \n\nTime & Location\n\n\nSep 26\, 2026\, 2:00 PM – 4:30 PM \nCarnegie Library of Pittsburgh – Squirre\, 5801 Forbes Ave\, Pittsburgh\, PA 15217\, USA \n\n\n\n\n\nAbout the event\n\n\n\nSacred Stitches\nA Creative Kaleidoscope Workshop\nSunday\, September 26 | 2:00–4:30 PM \nSquirrel Hill Library | Large Meeting Room \n \nSlow down\, settle in\, and discover what can happen when creativity becomes a form of mindfulness. \nJoin Teetotal Initiative and Dr. Vincenne Revilla Beltrán for Sacred Stitches\, a unique hands-on textile workshop inspired by the philosophy\, culture\, and history of the Japanese stitching traditions of Sashiko and Boro. \n \nMore than a sewing class\, Sacred Stitches is an invitation to step away from the noise and demands of everyday life and experience the simple\, meditative rhythm of needle\, thread\, and breath. \n \nUsing reclaimed fabric remnants\, simple stitching techniques\, and guided instruction\, you’ll create your own small textile keepsake while exploring how the centuries-old practice of hand-stitching can encourage relaxation\, focus\, creativity\, and self-expression. Along the way\, Vincenne will share the traditions and ideas that inspire the practice and help each participant make the experience their own. \n \nNo sewing experience is necessary. Whether you’ve been stitching for years or have never threaded a needle\, this workshop was designed to be welcoming\, approachable\, and enjoyable for everyone. All fabric\, needles\, thread\, and other materials will be provided. If you have your own sewing kit or fabric scissors\, you’re welcome to bring them along. \n \nThroughout the afternoon\, we’ll explore the connection between creativity and wellbeing\, experience stitching as a mindfulness practice\, and discover the beauty that can emerge when we give ourselves permission to simply slow down and create. \n \nBecause this is a hands-on workshop with individualized instruction\, space is limited to just 20 participants. \n \nCome create something meaningful\, connect with others\, and experience the beauty of slowing down… \none stitch at a time. \n \n*RSVP opens on September 19th \n\n\n\n\n\nLove what you read? #sharesobriety\n Share on Facebook (Opens in new window)\n Facebook\n \n Share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)\n LinkedIn\n \n Share on Pinterest (Opens in new window)\n Pinterest\n \n Share on X (Opens in new window)\n X\n \n Share on Tumblr (Opens in new window)\n Tumblr\n \n Share on Reddit (Opens in new window)\n Reddit

SUMMARY:Amazingly Alcohol Free - Palm Springs AF Retreat
DESCRIPTION:Amazingly Alcohol Free – Palm Springs AF Retreat\n  \nOur Palm Springs AF Retreat\, happening September 25–28\, 2026\, is an intimate\, alcohol-free experience designed for connection\, confidence\, and real-life expansion. \nWhat makes this retreat unique is its size and intention. There are only five rooms available in a vibrant private midcentury-modern home in Palm Springs. This is not a large event or conference. It is a thoughtfully curated gathering of women who are choosing to deepen their alcohol-free confidence in a space where they do not have to navigate drinking culture or explain themselves. \nPalm Springs brings a bold 1960s midcentury aesthetic\, desert mountain backdrops\, colorful architecture\, and a timeless sun-soaked energy. Mornings by the pool\, warm desert air\, and expansive skies create a natural reset that feels both grounding and energizing. \nThroughout the weekend\, we will gather in a private home for guided connection conversations\, poolside yoga\, a sound bath experience\, shared meals\, and intentional downtime. The experience balances reflection\, growth\, and relaxation. While there is space to lounge and slow down\, the heart of the retreat is meaningful conversation and stepping into your alcohol-free life in real time. \nGuests will fly into Palm Springs International Airport (PSP)\, approximately five minutes from the retreat home\, or into Los Angeles International Airport (LAX)\, about a two-hour drive depending on traffic. Airfare and transportation are not included. \nThe retreat is hosted by Jaime Andersen\, founder of Amazingly Alcohol-Free. Jaime is an alcohol-free coach and certified Vinyasa yoga instructor who creates intentional spaces that blend mindset work\, movement\, and nervous system support. Her retreats are designed to feel personal\, supportive\, and expansive. \nThis experience is for women ready to deepen their alcohol-free confidence in a powerful\, in-person setting. \n  \nRetreat investment ranges from $1\,800 to $2\,200 depending on room selection. \nRoom options include: \n• Private King or Queen Room with Private Bath – $2\,200\n• Private Room with Shared Bath – $2\,000\n• Shared Queen Room (two beds) with Private Bath – $1\,800 per person \nSelect private rooms may add a second guest for a flat rate of $800 for the additional person. Guests choosing this option must register together. \nA $500 non-refundable deposit secures your selected room and is applied toward the total retreat investment. Payment plans begin 60 days after the deposit\, with monthly automatic payments available. Final balance is due by August 1\, 2026. \nAirfare and transportation are not included. Guests may fly into Palm Springs International Airport (PSP)\, approximately five minutes from the retreat home\, or Los Angeles International Airport (LAX)\, about a two-hour drive depending on traffic. \nThe retreat includes three nights in a private luxury home\, all meals and beverages\, guided connection experiences\, poolside yoga\, a sound bath\, and a fully curated alcohol-free environment \nLove what you read? #sharesobriety\n Share on Facebook (Opens in new window)\n Facebook\n \n Share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)\n LinkedIn\n \n Share on Pinterest (Opens in new window)\n Pinterest\n \n Share on X (Opens in new window)\n X\n \n Share on Tumblr (Opens in new window)\n Tumblr\n \n Share on Reddit (Opens in new window)\n Reddit
